Thought he played very well. Always pulling wide looking for the ball from Lee. Decent overall distribution. Quick, good in the air. Scored the winner, like to see alongside Leggy.

Dale Bennett

Solid debut for someone who only just met his team mates, always helps when you score the winner!

Dale Bennett

Looked very solid to me throughout and a nice powerful header to deliver us with 3 points - can't ask more than that!

Dale Bennett

He's an inch shorther than Thomas Vermaelen........what's the obsession with size ?

No issues with size was just commenting. Anyways its what he does on the field and today he played very well and scored the winner

Dale Bennett's first senior goal was the *real* story from yesterday: with Karliegh out and Marcel having had a day off to fly home for a funeral it was big risk: hopefully this suggests that the Sporting Director/Manager gig is working OK as it was a phone call from MW that got him in. Afterwards he said it was the most tired he'd ever been in his life. Nice lad. Indeed, all the players are a nice bunch and I hope yesterday's misunderstandings don't place a rift between the players and the fans.

Dale Bennett

Credit where its due, the boy done well. Concerns over his physical statue as has already been noted, especially when playing with Liera/Eger who are not brilliant in the air. Hope he is not bullied out of it against the more physical teams, would feel happier with KO or LL at his side.

He did well..........and thank god (someone (he) got on the end of a cross!

Dale Bennett

Seemed pretty assured for a debut and he'll have something to look back on in years to come. Could prove an asset as a 'sweeper-type' centre-back if he plays with someone who could actually win the ball in the air: he seemed fairly confident with the ball at his feet but is never going to be able to cope directly with the Division's lumps.

Reminded me a bit of Osei Sankofa.

What an insult!

His mobility was greatly needed at times, Llera and Eger or Slower and Slower would get murdered by most attacks this season, having them two starting on that big pitch at Hillsboro fills me with dread! Luckily that ain't going to happen.

Dale Bennett

Sounds like he has picked a bad injury with his knee in training yesterday. Returned to Watford and probably needs an operation. Sounds like a cruciate gone. Very sad for the lad and our injury curse goes on !!!!

Didn't know that - bad news for him and us. :(

Dale Bennett

SH1T! Best wishes for a speedy recovery, young man.

Dale Bennett

Although its probably just bloody bad luck the amount of injuries that we are picking up will not encourage a manager in the top 2 leagues to risk sending a youngster to us for match experience and will not help in our search for a striker on loan. I cannot remember a time when we have picked up so many injuries this early on and many of them appear to be non impact injuries. I certainly do not have any knowledge of physio and would not begin to suggest that any of these could have been avoidable but it does make you think.

Uwe Rösler said the injury was picked up with no one near the player and he just twisted his knee when moving. Most of injuries have been 'impact' injuries which are difficult to prevent.

It's just bad luck :sorted:

Look back and you'll see the ones that seem susceptible to muscle pulls/tears. ie Saunders. Old Knee problems ie Alexander. Osborne and legge have been out with pulls previously. Logan had an injury when coming here. Moore was just unlucky, the same for Bennett, O'Connor is just getting old ;) so the odd twinge here and there! Blair Adams came here after hamstring problems with England. Diagouraga was unlucky v Hampton. I could go on..... :D

Dale Bennett

I seem to remember a period under AS when we had a string of injuries. Just down to bad luck I suppose.

Dale Bennett

its always defenders now...very weird, Eger cant believe his luck, whenever he gets dropped his replacement amazingly gets injured :fishing:

Dale Bennett

If he never comes back, another one alongside Jerrome Sobers in the one game-one goal club?

Oh well NB can't get it right all the time:fishing:;).

On a more serious note best of luck and a speedy recovery Dale. Rotten luck for the poor lad.

Dale Bennett

Remind me please cos drawing a blank

Loanee centrehalf from Ipswich who played in the Hull game at the end of the 2004/5 season and scored from a corner to equalise and was never seen again in League football.

Looking at the touchlines, I commented to a mate that it looked like they'd made the pitch as narrow as possible. Maybe that and the incessant aerial bombardment is the limit of Smeg-son's tactics.

Dale Bennett

are we on the look out for another central defender to replace him or is there no need as Karleigh's injury wasnt as bad as first thought?

Dale Bennett

Still think we'll need another central, Karleigh should still be out for a few weeks, although that said at least with the two cup games coming up we can take our time over bringing in the right replacement rather than rushing into a decision.

Well played though Bennett, not sure how many defenders we have on our books who have scored in 100% of their games for us.

Dale Bennett

Indeed. Comfortably the best goals to games ratio in the club. Can't help but think it'd be easiest to get Pim back provided we have a recall option? Remember Uwe saying we wanted him to get some confidence and he's been playing regularly.

There is no recall option IIRC.

Dale Bennett

I hope we can get through the next 2 games as we are which might mean a bot of boxing and coxing on Saturday assuming Llera can't play and then perhaps one of the 2 injured defenders could be fit to play against Charlton a week on Saturday.

What ever happened to George Moleski from that game? thought he looked really decent and that we'd see more of him.

Dale Bennett

Was at Burnham recently but not sure what he's doing Saturday football-wise.

Dale Bennett

As was said earlier, no rush with two cup games coming up. Besides who would want to loan players out to play in an FA cup game and risk becoming cup tied not that any club would allow it.

Dale Bennett

That's correct for half or full season loans. Pim is with Rochdale until January. Hopefully Leon will be back in the next couple of weeks.
Pim is out with a groin strain........... so even if we could get him back now he would be no good for a few weeks anyway.

Oh i didnt realise that. Is a recall option one of the definitions between a loan and an 'emergency' loan?

Emergency Loan is just the name given for all loans that are outside of the standard FIFA transfer windows. Short term loans (up to 90 days) can have 24 hour re-call clauses attached to them.

That's correct but the recall is valid only past the first month. There's a relaxation on these rules for goalkeepers.

Are there any goalscoring goalkeepers available on emergency loan? as Uwe seems to like keepers and defenders. ;)

Oh hang on. We've got Mikey "golden boots baby" Grella coming good now after one to one coaching from Uwe :bound:

Shame for Dale though :( But Leon is back

Dale Bennett

Hes back!

Does this mean One or two Centre backs (Dean and or Osborne I presume) are on their way out?

Dale Bennett

............where does this leave Eger??????........

Dale Bennett

Legge, Osborne, Dean, Eger and Bennett. That's a lot of good centre backs to all keep happy at once, can only assume Dean will be going back to Southampton or Osborne will be sold in January.

Dale Bennett

another defender, just what we need....Uwe says we need competition at RB...what about the other more important areas of the pitch? we already have Legge, Eger, Logan, Bidwell, Woodman, Osborne, Dean, Pim..how many more freckin defenders do we have to sign

This is a good move for us and the player as Bennett is playing for his career as I suspect that Watford will probably release him at the end of the season so he needs to either prove to them he is worth a new contract or the same to us or any other interested clubs.

He can play in a couple of positions, has pace and also has a pretty decent goal scoring record for us too!!

Logan might well need a rest from time to time and Bennett will also challenge for a place in the centre of the defence too.

As for Osborne and Dean I would be surprised if both are still here at the end of the month but......
