NOW I am interested.

Danny Kedwell had a storming season at Welling in the Conference South. Strong and pacy and scored a lot of goals. Been around a bit for a youngster but well worth a good look.

How would you rate him compared to your other recent hot tip - Beckford?

Totally differnt style of players. Beckford is tallish but slight and quick - a bit of a DJ whereas Kedwell is stronger and more of a targetman

The bit from the Maidstone United website says that he is a midfielder, but I got the impression from North London Bee's post that he is a striker...:confused:

23 goals from 40 games would suggest he is a striker and is the sort of player we should be looking at closely. Problem is what are the odds on us unearthing another DJ so soon after the original has left?

Yes but he is at this sillly level of football for a reason, he is not even espacially young is he. We need to have more abition and try to sign a proper goalscorer.

24 year old DJ Campbell was playing at the same level.

and that Luca Toni at 29 he's far too old, debut season in serie a i think

And how do we afford another proven forward on top of the 4 we already have? I suggest this signing is just about our level for the moment. I'd much rather spend cash on 2 proven centre midfielders then a striker TBH

Actually Kedwell was playing one level higher than DJ. Conf South rather than Rymans

Sounds a bit of a loose cannon but you never know, could well be another DJ.

hes back training with welling according to my dads godson who plays for them.he rates danny very highly by the way but says it would take a while for his fitness to come up to league 1 level

As did DJ's fitness - it wasn't til Nov/Dec he started consistently banging in a few goals...

Only view would be we are rather top heavy on strikers at the moment..?

Agreed, but hopefully we can offload Fitz and Willock. We need to be giving this guy a trial again.

Kedwell would fit in perfectly at BFC.

He got himself sent off in Welling's last game and is suspended for the start of the season :sorted:

in last week's hounslow chronicle leroy
is quoted as saying that he has recieved enquiries
from other clubs re fitz and willock

can't shed any light on who those clubs might be though

This guy's still a possibility according to today's BBC website. Does LR think that his budget is only for forwards ... and when he's spent it they'll be more for the midfield and defence?

How many shortish strikers of varying pace does a club need in Div 1, or are we reverting to 4-2-4?

I am assuming that Leory thinks there is no hope for our defence so he is just going to forget about that and sign more strikers with the tatic being that next season we will try and score more than we are blatently going to concede. Kind of like what Keegan tried with Newcastle. And England. :(

Owusu is injured. Fitzgerald and Willock will hopefully be leaving soon. That leaves Moore, Kuffour and Rhodes as our only strikers. Also, we are signing a centre-back tomorrow.

He isn't long term but we need someone to play in the first match, unless we find another keeper or Abbey gets another offer it'll be him. There is another triallist listed for tonight though.

My fault, I thought (triallist) meant there was another keeper to replace Abbey at half time. :rolleyes:

If I was him I would move on...

I'd be seriously phished if two dodgy centre forwards were offered contracts a head of me if I was a midfielder on trial at a club that don't have any!!

And we have been linked today with former Sheffield Weds striker James Quinn! Northern Ireland International centre forward wityh poor goal ratio to games record. 1/5 roughly
Maybe Peterborough will take Willock back as part of the deal although he has been offered a free?

Quinn is a free transfer at Posh, there's a whole thread on this from last Friday.

Reading the pre season reports from the fans, it seems the jury is stiill out on this chap. Almost split from what i've read as to if we will sign him or not
