Darius Henderson

I have heard that Reading have announced that their young striker Darius Henderson will be joining a 2nd division club this week. What price the Bees?

He's 21, and played 70 games in total for Reading and scored 11.

I think this could be an interesting one, especially as he seems to be scoring goals in pre season friendlies. Fingers crossed on this one.

Last season he started 1 league match and came on as sub in 22, and scored 4 goals

He's a good player. He played against the Bees in the friendly against Reading a couple of weeks ago - he was the one who had a brief spat with Leo Roget in the first half.
An awkward character, tall, strong and superb in the air.

Darius Henderson

He could well be the 1st Division forward knocking on the door of the 1st team that the Chronicle mentioned. From what Pardew says it wouldnt be for a full season though.

Darius Henderson

On the official site they say an experienced forward who has played in all four divisions is playing against Farnborough. Could this be Henderson??

No, for 3 reasons
1. He isn't experienced
2. He isn't well-known
3. He has only played in 2 divisions

Darius Henderson

As Reading actively want him to go out on loan somewhere, I hope there might be a chance of them continuing to pay some/most of his wages with the loaning club just making a contribution in line with their own wage scheme... but of course if someone else is offering to pay all his wages while he's on loan, we'd lose out

Darius Henderson

Seen a whisper elsewhere it's Brighton or Colchester for young Darius

Darius Henderson

It will be good to have him.

However, as he is a pikey I hope someone will tell the other lads to lock up their valuables!!

Oh! And will he be allowed to park his caravan in the Braemar forecourt on weekdays??

:D :D :D

Luton Bee, heard nothing down here (websites/paper) re: Henderson

However Coppell and Pardew are friends, so who knows.......

Dare I say it but he reminds me alot of Scott "Rambo" Ramsey who was meant to be coming to Brentford, young, big and strong, target man

Whats the score with Ramsey?

Darius Henderson

IMHO Henderson is just what we need and want. Young, rated, ambitious and desperate to prove he's worth a start in a decent div 1 side. I've seen him a couple of times before and he's big and strong and just the sort of target man who I think Peters can play off. Don't care if he's a pikey or how long we get him for, at least it gives me hope. Now all we need is a centre mid to pull the strings

we gave up on him, i forget why, it'll be further down this forum somewhere....

Saw this is in the news of the world. Henderson is quality. Last season many of the pikey fans said he should be in the first team. Signing would be a bonus. Alongside Peters he would b e quality. !!

Darius Henderson

According to Teletext he is on loan to either the Bees or Bloody Wycombe!!

Talk to Siddy and Nick Forster Darius and I am sure you will make the correct decision and join the mighty Bees.

:) :)

Darius Henderson

If we could get him it would be a terrific signing.

He looked pretty good when he was playing Div 1 last year and would surely be good enough for us.

I just hope he decides to join us.

I think some thing to do with wages has swung it WW'S way :(

But on the other hand Darius wouldn't it be better to join the team of up and coming INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS?........................four and counting!

Increase YOUR chances with the young, high-tempo Bees Babes!

Darius Henderson

Im speaking to our own

Im not talking to out siders, WW are no worse than us, some Bees still see them as a non league outfit, theyre not, thats all !

Darius Henderson

I know loan signings are a big part of the game now and players like Sidwell and Burgess did a great job for us. BUT they also contributed to us being up sh*t creek at the end of the season as there was no way they were going to be available the next season.

With only 1 year left on his contract, Reading either want him in the shop window or are looking for someone else to help pay off his contract. I dont mind Henderson coming here to help us get a good start to the season, but I dont want him to become a key part of the team.

Darius Henderson

we don't really have any money either, so it's not going to be resources that swings it.

Col U have just signed another loan striker, so it probably won't be them...Walsall would probably be better for an ambitious player.

Darius Henderson

Would all depend on where he comes from. Going all the way up north may deter him from moving there (we can hope)

Darius Henderson

Wallsall is not oop north and from Reading probably just over an 1 hours drive. But that said I doubt Reading would want to loan him to another div 1 opponent.

The Bosman ruling leaves most teams with loads of players less at the end of every season. It is now ineveitable that what has happened the last two seasons at BFC will happen most seasons, loan players or not.

Fair enough Bigbee!
I know what you mean..................but they could NEVER be as good as us, could they?

(Now.................did I mention about our FOUR Internationals!)

Henderson, or someone who looked very much like him sitting next to Eric Hall, was watching the Portsmouth game last night....

The guy with Eirc Hall was with him at the reading game that Henderson played in, I think it might be his son.

There was no such rule. I think you are talking about loans between Premiership Clubs.

Darius Henderson

Yes, on Championship Manager, loans between 2 clubs in the same division are not allowed. They have got it wrong. Don't forget Ingimarsson as well as Rougier

Darius Henderson

well it looks like you may well get him - and I'm sure you will all enjoy the Sanchez comment from getreading.co.uk...

ON THE MOVE - Darius Henderson

READING’S rising young stars Darius Henderson and Jamie Ashdown are being lined up for loan moves.

Henderson, who will leave for one month initially, is wanted by a string of clubs including Brentford, Brighton, Colchester, Walsall and Wycombe.

However, there is no chance of him going to First Division Walsall, who are managed by former Royals assistant boss Colin Lee, or Second Division Wycombe, who have ex-Reading player Lawrie Sanchez in charge.

Relationships between the pair and Royals manager Alan Pardew have been strained over the years.

And Pardew said: “They have not spoken to me about Darius and I have no intention of sending him there anyway as neither of them like me.”

Instead Henderson is most likely to make the switch to Brighton or Brentford while Colchester, managed by former Royal Phil Parkinson, are less of a possibility.

Pardew added: “He will definitely go to one of those three clubs as I know how they work. He will get the right coaching, he will will definitely play there and most importantly he will be looked after.

“I rate Darius very highly. Centre forwards are like centre halves – they need to learn the intricacy of the game and they can only get that by playing and learning.

“He needs to know where to run, when to lay the ball off, when to hold it up and you can’t get that just on the training ground.

“It’s the same for goalkeepers and I am desperate to get Jamie Ashdown out on loan.

“Both players have the tools to be successful in the First Division and maybe even the Premier League but they still have to learn the game and I can’t afford to have them sitting on the bench for another season.”

Henderson was talking to the three interested clubs this week and will almost certainly move out on loan by tomorrow.

And provision could be made for the one-month deal to be extended depending on how he fares. There will be no option for Reading to recall him during the first month.

Henderson has enjoyed a successful pre-season, scoring against Gefle IK, IK Brage and Southampton.

However, the arrival of £500,000 striker Shaun Goater from Manchester City has dropped him down the pecking order and his chances would once again be limited to substitute appearances.

Pardew rates the 21-year-old highly but knows the big striker needs regular first-team experience to step up to the next level.

Although Doncaster-born Henderson has been on the scene for a few seasons he has only made 12 starts, while a further 70 have been from the bench.

He has netted 16 goals, including Reading’s 5,000th League goal, against Wycombe in September 2001.

Ashdown, who has made just five starts for Royals plus one substitute appearance, remains the club’s second-choice keeper behind Marcus Hahnemann.

If he was to leave on loan, Academy and England Under-18s keeper Jamie Young would deputise.

Meanwhile, Royals’ search for a centre-back is continuing and I understand Pardew has identified the player he wants to bring in. However, it is now certain the new acquisition will not be brought in before the start of the season.
