Very good performance from the young Villa man last night. On the back of that one performance should he go to the World Cup or should Kevin Phillips or Andy Cole be the ones on that plane ??

Maybe a little to early I reckon, considering he's only played one senior game. Saying that though, I agree, he did look very good last night, more so then Mr Ricketts (will he ever get a 2nd cap?). Phillips did ok again, but I think he's going to be judged that he hasn't scored for England in all the chances that he's had, which isn't many really. Cole never produces at international level, so shouldn't go in my opinion. So I say, now I've typed this all out, how about testing Vassell over the next few friendlies to see if he can carry on his good form.

Definately pick him ahead of Cole as youth is the future. But I still believe Owen, Heskey, Fowler and Philips should be our 4 main strikers

Phillips isn't good enough. And Teddy Sheringham must go, for his ability to change a game. He proved that against Greece and proved it time and again for Manure. OK, he's not one for the future, but it would be madness to leave him behind.

I'm with Ed, the only thing Phillips has proved consistently is that he hasn't got the extra bit of class required at international level. The top 4 have got to be Owen, Heskey, Fowler and Sheringham. I think we should take a kid as the 5th striker - he's not likely to get a game but the experience will do him the world of good. And after that debut on Wednesday then I think Vassell is the kid to take.

What I liked was his pace. If Owen got injured (heaven forbid) I would fancy Vassell to be a like for like replacement.

Phillips needs to move, or he'll end up like Le Tiss. A decent player in a very average side
