All gymnastic exercises are called sports although the original Greek word just means exercising without clothes. Gymnastics is really preparation for exercise in other sports and not strictly competitive in itself. E.G.Vault, high bar, parallel bars, rings etc.

In the Olympics, gold medals are awarded for vault, floor, horizontal bar, parallel bars, rings, pommel horse, individual all around, and team all around. That's a total of eight gold medals for gymnastic exercising. Compare that with say, the decathlon or the marathon and it seems rather disproportionate. I think one gold for the best all around individual and one for the best all around team would be more than enough.

I do not and never have liked Phil Taylor. In fact I will be pleased when he has retired from the Darts competitions.

All sports that are based on decisions of judging panel have a question mark over them - gymnastics, ice dance, diving, etc. By that token darts is more of a sport than gymnastics ... and therefore possibly one of my few remaining avenues into the olympics.

For the first 15 legs of the Matchplay final, we witnessed the highest quality of darts ever seen on TV in my opinion. Both averaging between 105-110. Truely amazing. Wade completely outplayed him and deserved the 7-4 lead but the way Taylor came back was excellent. However, over the past week Wade had definitely surpassed Barney as the second best in the world.

The best game, not for quality but excitement, was the QF Barney v Mardle. Amazing comeback by Wayne. Gutted he played Wade in the semi's as Wade produced one of the best performances ever seen on tv.

Roll on the Grand Prix or more so, the Worlds. And Prem League! Can't wait already, hope Wayne's in it again (top 6 at the moment )
