A tribute from his son on his blog

Sad news of the passing of someone I had come to admire.

Might be worth dropping a few pennies to his just giving page in memory - or maybe we could organise a GPG collection and make a single worth contribution. His son is also doing the Shine Night Walk in Liverpool in September in support of Cancer Research UK.

Don't post much but am a daily reader and have been following this thread hoping his situation would improve. Had a quick look back and it was less than 2 years ago that he was in the shape of his life but was being troubled by 'sciatica'. His stoicism in the face of it all was truly admirable. For a bloke I have never even set eyes upon I am humbled, inspired and choked - a reminder if we ever needed one not to take anything for granted. RIP Dave

It is great when fans of other clubs come onto our site to discuss football openly and in a non-tribal way. In fact I find it one of the most enjoyable aspects of the GPG. Opinions was a sportsman and a true football fan. I will miss him.

An inspiration, I followed his blog, I read his comments on here.....they made me laugh......they made me cry.......most of all they made me think about a bloke I have not and will now never meet.
