Well pleased for him, couldn't have worked out better...they were constantly trying to wind him up (number 2 and number 5 got me so wound up) and it seemed to be working early on. But he stuck with it, and eventually helped us to a vital win, but to get a penalty and score himself was quality.

He is an absolute liability and should have been sent off. Every time I see him he goes further down in my estimation. He offers nothing apart from decent free kicks. He has no real pace and since his foot injury can no longer cross the ball with great accuracy. I would like to see Dyer given his role on the right next match and see what his pace can do on his proper foot.

I imagine Dyer will come in, to play the central role in that diamond alongside Gerrard.

As for Beckham, I think he wound himself up more than anything. He was desperate to prove something to the press and nearly got himself sent-off, that would have cost us the game.
Having said that when we got on top of the game and the Turks were still having a go he didn't bite, and needs some credit for that.

Beckham was awesome last night. He covered every blade of the pitch, won nearly every single 50/50 tackle, he ran them ragged down the right wing. The turks got a right kicking in the second half and couldn't put two passes together in the second half as we smashed the ball off them and built good exciting attacks from midfield. Beckham led the charge second half!

Turkey had the gameplan to smash beckham after two minutes and try to rile him. The hopeless referee who hardly made a good decision all night refused to book the turk so the next 10 mins became a battle and he nearly lost control. Beckham was booked for retaliation about 10 mins later but necer actually looked like he was going to get sent off, no more than the dirty cheating turks did!

, but last night his crossing was poor and he kept falling over. I think his boots may have played a part in that because Dyer fell over when we got the penalty too.

Zidane and ronaldo fight it out to see who is the worlds best player, figo and raul can fight it out to see who takes 3rd and 4th spot. Just cos beckham isn't as good as them it does not make him crap!

DB can't dribble round players like zidane as if they are 5 year old girls, but on the other hand the other 4 players mentioned above can't cross a ball like beckham. He swung a couple brilliant crosses last night and ran his nuts off again. How bad do you think you would look against roberto carlos with the only person available to give the ball to is gary "chip it down the line into your throat" neville?

Apart from the goal (cross?) from figo he did nothing last night. Imagine beckham with all the time in the world on the right wing (like figo had last night) pinging in crosses to ronaldo, he would have scored 7.

He has a great cross, a great freekick...but he always unloads the ball very early so he can effectively play himself completely out of games...at this stage he runs around like a blue arsed fly to impress everyone with his work rate....but all to often this cane be destuctive to others around him...such as during the Greece game!

Also it doesn't allow us an outlet when we are soaking up the pressure. You can't get the ball out to him on the wing to deliver the killer ball to the strikers, if he is on your own goal line defending!!

He is a liability in my book and I would drop him for a while to see how we get on with out him...we went into the world cup pinning all our hopes on him...which was ridiculous!!

I agree with some, but to drop him is silly when he has scored about 30% of englands goals since sven was in charge. He nearly always plays well for england!

totally agree about the centre midfield bit as we don't have anybody on the end of his crosses for england. He could still take the free kicks and corners and go wide occasionally.

I think one of the problems for Beckham at the moment is that he can play sh*te and still gets loads of adulation because he's a "star". He should sign for a Spanish or Italian club - then if he played crap the fans would be out setting his car on fire or they'd meet him after training with baseball bats. It might give him a bit more incentive. To me his career seems to be drifting a bit, not into mediocrity exactly, but I don't think he's turning into the player he looked like being 2 or 3 years ago.
