David Button (Ipswich Town)

According to our website he has signed for 'the whites' which is a strange way to refer to our local rivals

More palatable web wise than "those c**ts"

moved on to better wages but moved to a **** of a club..

David Button (Ipswich Town)

A very good goalkeeper for us. Can't really blame him for moving to get more money.

I'm sure we received good money for him to help squad strengthening.

David Button (Ipswich Town)

Thats the main problem we have, we get good young players pay a fair wage, ex Premireshits come in offer a wage more than we can

David Button (Ipswich Town)

spelling

I hate them more then anything so David i hope your bank balance is happy. But i hope you are ****ing sh*t and take that scummy club with you to league one. I remember how mental you went when we went 3 up against them last season so seems strange that you cared that much at the time.

David Button (Ipswich Town)

Good luck, David. Let's hope you are everything that some fans say you are when we play against you!

We have to believe that Daniel Bentley is the new Maxime Colin; we sell one and replace with better.

David Button (Ipswich Town)

He's history. We move on.

David Button (Ipswich Town)

We have received over ten times what we paid for him, replaced him with an exceptional young talent who will probably cost less than half the money we received for Button.

Of course we would rather he had re-signed for us but he chose not to so we had to move on and do the best possible deal for the club and this is a really excellent one.

Shame he joined Fulham but that is life...

We thank him for his services because he was exceptional for us, we cheer on and encourage his replacement and we hopefully use some of the money to strengthen what is already an excellent squad.

As for Bentley, he is a totally different character as he is loud, brash, positive and confident and once he settles down will provide us with a new and improved dimension in goal.

Probably less than a third I reckon.

Again another up-trade that we made us cash. Good business. Can't complain.

Also we wouldn't have sold him to Fulham if we considered them rivals for places at the top of the division.

Hope you are right. I was thinking we will probably pay £750K or so for Bentley.

It isn't strange at all. We were his employers at the time and therefore he was fully vested in our success.

Footballers are very rarely supporters of the clubs they play for. Remember, they are generally no more than mercenaries passing through. We can only demand their loyalty whilst they are playing for us and they will go where the money is.

The amount of people in the Facebook groups bemoaning Button's atrocious distribution utterly staggers me. Do these people have no clue what he was being asked to do ?

David Button (Ipswich Town)

Actually, I suspect I've just answered my own question.

Best to ignore. :)

It was bad enough when someone put together three mistakes, on Facebook, but they weren't able to put together three great saves, remember PNE away last season? Now that was save of the season.

I think it helps people to cope with the loss if they slate him and re-write history.

.............the Brentford Model rolls on.............

David Button (Ipswich Town)

Rate him and respect for all he did here................... But all that respect has been lost for joining them. Same with Bidwell. Gutted to see both of them go but im over the moon with the cash we have received. Both went for the money.

atleast qpr managed to beat us... Weve humiliated fulham over the last two seasons and they were lucky king jotas goal was disallowed and theyre only playing championship football by the skin of their teeth. If their defence is anywhere near as bad as last season they will need all his shot stopping abilities

Without Bidwells head to aim for on the touchline buttons days were numbered

David Button (Ipswich Town)

I wish him all the best. He's been ultra-consistent over the last three years and has played a big role in our success. So I'll applaud him when he comes back to Griffin Park

David Button (Ipswich Town)

He's pulled of some stunning saves and saved us on more than one occasion but will I miss watching the consistent balls out to the left side to Bidwell (no longer there of course) or the short balls out to defenders that really look like they don't want it at times? Good luck to him but if he was that good I think a team of more note than Fulham would have snapped him up. Thinking about that statement he could have gone anywhere else lol

im liking this post ;)

bye button, youve been a good servant for the club..........bentley will be better though

David Button (Ipswich Town)

3 year contract with an option for another year - that is a result from his viewpoint....end of. Just so long as he remembers it's the pedigree of having been at Brentford that made it all possible.

David Button (Ipswich Town)

Thanks for the outstanding saves David.

If you are allowed off the bench and their back four is as bad as last year I reckon you will be earning your pay rise

David Button (Ipswich Town)

Don't blame him moving to get a better deal where he'll be first choice at his age.
Still think we have traded very well on both Button and Jake as reckon we'll strengthen for less in both cases.
I kind of hope he's been dropped by the time we play them so they really regret signing him!

"David, this is Simon Moore calling. Just wanted to say I back you totally in following the money and it has worked out perfectly for my career..."

And as Peter Crouch pointed out a few years ago being a well paid footballer ensures a fit wife

I agree about his kicking to the left Bidwell or playing out from the back but that would have been his instructions, not his choice, the team was set up that these were the standard tactics, anyone in goal would have been asked to do the same. What's the betting he comes out of goal for a corner in injury time and heads an equaliser against us!

David Button (Ipswich Town)

It would be hypocritical for me to wish Button the best,as I hope he concedes 5 goals a match next season and they get relegated in March.

After he leaves there though, good luck to him. :)

I don't do F/B but feel Button is a hard act to follow. Hopefully Bentley's a sound replacement.

Think BFC got as good a deal as possible with the contract situation but i'd also say that Foolam have got themselves a bargain in this day and age

We said the same about Chesney.....

It was obviously rubbish though that he doesn't like competition as that is what he will have at Fulham with Bettenelli (sp?) there.....

He may get to be #1 but do just drop your own #1 at the drop of a hat?

David Button (Ipswich Town)

Thanks for the last 3 years dave , but i will not be wishing you luck playing for that lot ! Hope it all goes horribly wrong from now on.

Some may argue that thats what we were prepared to do?

I thought the save Bettenelli made from Diagouraga in our 2-1 victory in 2014 was among the best I have seen at Griffin Park. Especially as it was Toums's only shot on target in three years :)
