My understanding is that Hunt was the backup if AS didn't land Adam Newton which looked shaky for a spell.

Whoops, meant as in the next signing, surely only one more is on the horizon? and agree it has to be a centre back. Reading Abee's comment suggests Hunt is now a non starter. Perhaps?

We have pre season to see how he gels with our players and which position he is best suited to within our squad.

Would rather wait and see for myself as what works at one club isn't always the same at another
