He did very well in dealing with Pinnock's underhit back pass and generally gives the defence more confidence than Bentley did last season. I like the way he celebrates.

He was second favourite, I thought it was a goal on the way, then as he sprinted out I thought red card, then somehow he got there first and booted it out.

Incredible stuff.

It looks like I have a spare ticket for tomorrow in Braemar B304. PM me to discuss.

Made a fantastic save first half, which I thought he had no chance and looked a certain goal. Unbelievable this guy. Quickly become one of my favourites.

Also quite imperious catching high balls into the box despite being rather short for a keeper.

David Raya

The block at the guys feet in the first half was quality too, as well as a few ‘sweeper keeper’ moments.

Being honest he concerned in the first few games as he looked slightly erratic but he looks so good now, his reading of the game and cross handling is better than I can remember from a Bess keeper in my 30 years.

David Raya

I can’t believe any club would score 5 against him .... oh wait ...

A class keeper that suits our style ever so well. The best keeper we have had in the Championship.

David Raya

Must have claimed everything that was crossed into the box, no flapping at all, takes the ball cleanly and strongly. One further out that he got a fist to.
A keeper you can really trust. Love it. Lol him running to the half way line when we got the 3rd. Class.

...........a.fumble for their goal though...............

I have no doubt that he's an uptick on our previous Number 1. And suits our style really well.

Plus his confidence - wow!

However I think more than 50% of shots that he parries come back straight out for a follow-up attacker to take advantage of.

If he could push them out to the side then he'd be almost as good as me in my prime.

Fumble cost us.. teams will start to target that now i feel.. we got away with it against WBA.. rest of his game is excellent.. did well with corners.. fantastic distribution

David Raya

Yes, was a poor stop. Still, Raya has saved us more points than any previous keeper. One small error in half a season isn’t bad. :)

For those of you who want to have a dig at Raya’s mistake for the Swansea goal,, have a look at our last keepers mistakes today. First Charlton goal never came out far enough and got lobbed. Not to sure if he kneed the ball in for the Charlton winner or kneed out to the striker

Agree, we also look very dangerous when he has the ball in his hands rushing to the edge of the box to spring a counter, we break very well from that and his throws are unbelievable.

David Raya

Hasn’t cost us a point yet this season.
Bentley last season probably cost us more than ten.

David Raya

Bit unlucky with the goal but almost got two assists from outrageous throws out. Best keeper we've had IMHO..

David Raya

His throw outs are unreal .. there was one today that had so much spin on it, it looked like it changed direction when it bounced off the turf straight into either Rico or Said’s path (cant remember who) as they made their run .. best Brentford keeper I have seen

David Raya

Was a decent strike to be fair and Ayew did well to put the rebound in. I'd take 1 goal in 24 games being his 'fault'....

Yes incredible, he came running out scooped up the ball and lobbed it overarm 2/3rds of the pitch in front of Säid. All in one move too!

Just wanting to get in early and ask the question:

How many goals might we have conceded already this season from the ball coming straight back at us after a long aimless hoof forward from the back??.......

David Raya

No doubt he’ll get the blame but it was a dreadful goal to let in all round. Poor ball back from Mokotjo(?) gave their striker hope and then a poor pass from Pinnock put Raya right in it. Still should have put his foot through it but it was a combo-**** up not just a Raya one.

Not many at all.

As Mr Cynical said it was a collective failure. We should’ve known they’d be at us from the off. The disallowed goal was a let off but we didn’t heed the warning.

David Raya

Bad mistake today but he's been part of the joint-best defence in the league .. needs to tighten up on the errors.. a few made in the last few games

David Raya

Raya is a very aggressive keeper in every aspect of his game, distribution, coming for crosses, coming off of his line, sweeping etc. With such an approach inevitably it will on occasion go wrong. No doubting his was the major error for the goal and he immediately held his hands up to his teammates. He has been very good for us this year and he deserved better from his teammates to dig him out today as he has many times for them this season. They didn't.

Yes handling error last game and mistake at the Den but I can see no link with the change in GK coach. No doubt he will be back to his ebullient self against Bristol and compares favourably in every sense with the other keeper playing at Ashton Gate.

I think this is a very fair assessment of Raya's style.

Mmmmmmmm.........

Could also ask the question a different way:
How many goals might we not have scored this season if we didn't "play out from the back?"........

Sorry, misread your initial post. Fully agree, we’ve scored more and conceded fewer by playing out from the back.

David Raya

............super pass for the first goal.............

David Raya

Assist for first goal for David, but Dan had two assists for the mighty bees.

To be fair to Bentley not many keepers would have saved that Pinnock header. I still think he has the best reflexes of any keeper in the division.

For his all round game and his calm Raya is an upgrade though and another cracking signing, no argument.

David Raya

Just fills me with confidence. Thought Bentley was a really good keeper (until he lost confidence) but Raya is different level.
