I have really enjoyed the Davis cup. He can behave like a stroppy moody teenager but anyone who is a true sports fan can't fail but admire Murray's physical effort and competitive nature. Upmost respect for him.

Belgium played Swiss at home without Fed or Stan
Then Canada at home without Raonic
Then Argentina at home without Del Potro
The set would have been completed with Britain at home without Murray

But their luck ran out....

Couldn't give a toss about tennis, although Mrs Chipper is a big fan. However the performance of Andy Murray must be one of the greatest by an individual in a team event. When you hear of his results this season (and I have many, many times) they are equal to those of past greats and without the backing of better players that others had.

The reason why Murrays record is almost untouched is due to

Our No 2 always loses on Day 1 so Murray always plays a live 4th match on Day 3

Other countries have it won 3 0 so the second match does not count for their top player

Yes, but I think winning the first two sets and so taking Goffin to five sets wore him (Goffin) down for today's match (and to a lesser extent yesterday's).

Just watched it through and all credit to Murray.

I never liked Murray but he's some tennis player and has won The Davis cup more or less single handed this weekend. Fair play to him, he's become a big match player and was superb in his three matches.
Who'd have thought a few years ago we'd have a men's Wimbledon champion and won The Davis Cup?

James Ward in Round one was the only match that GB won in the whole competition
Which did not have Andy Murray on the court.
He skipped 1 doubles match and they lost

As a panelist on Fighting Talk said yesterday, "if we win the Davis Cup this weekend it will be one of the greatest British achievements of recent years and proof that the system is working... by system I mean Judy Murray's womb which has produced more British champions than the LTA has managed in the last 75 years."

I'm betting Judy's system has long closed down so the LTA better have a Plan B for the future. The Warburton "just do Plan A better" methodology isn't going to cut it in this instance.

Kyle Edmund beat Janko Tipsaravic, who has had a terrible time with injuries over the last two years.

Rain interrupted the tie, and the other singles match involving James Ward will be played tomorrow morning.
