His goal record doesn't look that great but he really burst onto the scene a couple of years ago.

Could be a very, very good signing IMHO.

Dean Bowditch

And a half decent one as well!:sorted:

Dean Bowditch

Has been talked up for quite a while now, perhaps he needs to change lane to accelerate again.

Dean Bowditch

Or let's hope that Greenholme has a round on players linked with Brentford at the quiz.

Dean Bowditch

I remember him as someone who burst on to the scene with a flourish at Ipswich but also recall that i didnt think he made too much impact at Wycombe.

I guess the only concern from the stats above is that he hasnt played a league game aywhere for a almost a year but i'd be happy with him :sorted:

Dean Bowditch

OK'ish but pacy and probably better than we can expect.

Not a BBB or Vine but will hopefully play well off a big lump like Thorpe

Dean Bowditch

Vine scored only 10 in 43 appearances for us... so not that great (statistically at least).

just to clarify before all that statos start harrassing me.. that was in the league...

just checked and it's 13 goals in 47 appearances in all comps (which is still pretty average - statistically)

As good as Shearer at Southampton at the same age though. :sorted:

Dean Bowditch

According to Ipswich town site, he is a midfielder

Dean Bowditch

I hope your right GeeBee but it does say that on there site

He was one of the most highly rated strikers in the country as a 16 year old. He started his career as a striker and played last season as a striker both for Brighton on loan & Ipswich reserves. :sorted: As we know the offficial sites are managed by a third party and often have things wrong. :sorted:

Dean Bowditch

Butcher using his Ipswich links...

I reckon he'd be a great signing, his pace would worry most teams in this division. A little bit light-weight, but thats what Thorpes up there for.

Dean Bowditch

Well done LB for the updates. Appreciate it.

Dean Bowditch

i've heard that this is very likely from my source that told me that sammy moore had signed for six months a week before it hit the official site......

Dean Bowditch

billionaire Marcus Evans

Any chance of getting this guy on loan for a few weeks? I'm sure we could get the best out of him  :D

Dean Bowditch

Lil' FB signed him for The Bees on Football Manager...

Scored 1 in 2 games...

Sounds good to me

Dean Bowditch

as an ipswich fan with an interest in brentford (terry butcher is a portman road legend) it would be good to see bowditch playing regularly again

bowditch is about 5th choice striker at portman road at the moment - we are banging the goals in and to be honest, he is a way away from getting a look in

he has always been held in great regard by the coaching staff at ipswich - first george burley, then joe royle and magilton rates him

he burst on the scene about 3 years back with a hat-trick on sky against watford and was blessed with great technique, vision and 'good feet'. he was also not short on a bit of confidence and this was always based on the fact that ipswich went on and on about him which i am sure might have turned his head slightly

he then has picked up injuries and has never really had a proper run in an ipswich shirt

if he stays fit and his attitude is good - he could be a great signing for you. he needs something to prove, both to ipswich and the wider football world. you need a striker by the sounds of it and this could be a good opportunity

he's not the most physical or strongest but he has a bit of class about him - i hope you get him and good luck deano and brentford

ps : type him into you tube and look at his winning goal against gillingham a few years back - bowditch at his best

Cheers mate, thanks for the info :sorted:

Dean Bowditch

Sounds like just what we need!

Hope it happens!

I seem to recall that TB has said one of the 'techniques' he used at Motherwell was to look for players that had lost their way and dropped out of favour and extract the best out of them. Bowditch does seem right up his street, then.

Dean Bowditch

The great thing about Butcher is that he obviously has the contacts and commands enough respect to make these things happen. That is a real advantage over people like Rosenior and Fitzgerald. I am sure that a lot of top managers would be comfortable trusting a former England International with their youngsters on loan.

Well said.:sorted:

It also helps when they are players released by Orient, Torquay and Grays.;)

Dean Bowditch
