Dean Windass

Dean Windass has gone on loan to Hull City!

This is for purely financial reasons not footballing ones.

He fell out with Todd when not told of an offer for him at the start of the season, and Bradford turned down a Barnsley offer of £200,000 this time last year.

What has happened financially at Bradford to have this change of heart?

Oh! Perhaps Todd is being economical with the truht!

Dean Windass

was it Wigan who bid £350K about this time last season?

They went bust with debts of £36m and somehow managed to survive, I suspect with very long strings attached , heavy repayments and restrictions financially together with the burden of operating a 36k seater stadium which they ony a quarter fill at best.

Administration again or close to administration would probably be the end of them so I would image it is for finanace reasons.

Still a good player even at 38.If he had laid off the ginsters surely would have gone to better things.

Dean Windass

Is this the same club that give him and Whetherall extended contracts? :fishing:

The bloke isn't fat - Did you not see him at Griffin Park last season, was like the hulk. A quality player and surprisingly a good bloke.

Well he is not exactly thin either is he.Sorry to split hairs:rolleyes: Anyway weight aside, still a good player in my opinion.

Dean Windass

Wigan tried to sign Windass last season yet he rejected Premiership football, saying the only club he'd leave Bradford for was...... Hull City. I reckon he'd play for them for nothing.

Reckon he will get a nice little bonus after today. The man is a legend!

Dean Windass

do we get any money for turner getting to the premiership ???

Dean Windass

doubt it we probably have a clause if he win the champions league or something daft like that

Dean Windass

Fair play to Windass absolutely brilliant. That finish was worthy of graceing any level.

There is a sell on if/when Hull move him on for a profit. Whether that is made more or less likely by todays result is another debate. My own view is that if he acquits himself reasonably well in the Premiership then he'll go in the summer of 2009 following Hull's relegation and for a bigger fee than he would have commanded from the Championship.

Hull, Stoke and West Brom......so that's eighteen points each for Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool before the season starts. What a thrilling competition the Premiership is these days.

Dean Windass

Derby migth have some tough competition for that record they set this season

The 3 promoted teams this season;

Sunderland
LLLLLLLL

Birmingham
LDLLLDDD

Derby
LLLLLLLL

:D

Dean Windass

That's why we can't get rid of Fulham and there's gonna be three teams worse than them again next season or my names not Brad Pitt. :(

The third division of the Premiership must be rubbing their hands with glee. They'll have to be massively sh*t to finish below that lot. If it goes on like this for many more seasons, the trap door will be battened up I reckon.

Dean Windass

To me the guy is something of a real working class hero who has shunned the bright lights of the premiershite in the past and has now grafted his way there. I hope he gets his chance and Phil Brown doesn't decide to say thanks a lot Dean and release him. Never forget that hatrick he scored against us for Hull in the nineties.
I'm also delighted for Phil Brown a real decent bloke opposed to the arrogant Garry Johnston

Dean Windass

Fair play to him.
Still got a funny name, though :)

Dean Windass

18 points each!! I am interested in that bet abee, what odds are you offering fella?

Dean Windass

I don't bet or know anything about it really. I generally work too hard for my money to give it to the bookies but the last time that I had a wager on here I lost the equivalent of a £3,000 to North London Bee.

Dean Windass

Well done to the wide arse.;)

Dean Windass

I don't remember him scoring 3..?

Certainly did. Snow storm before the game on a midweek night. Paul Durkin sent Martin Grainger off after about five minutes for bringing down who I think was Windass himself when clean through on goal. The rest was history although it remains to be seen whether or not he might have scored three had MG stayed on, probably not.
I also remember after the game having a drink on the Braemar road forecourt and DW comimg out and shouting to their coach driver to not forget stopping at the chippy on the way home. I'll bet he's done that on many an occasion

I was there today and at the full time whistle, you could tell the love and passion he has for Hull City. He was delighted for the fans more than anything. He has gone up a hell of a lot in my estimations! :sorted:

Also...Michael Turner had a blinder :sorted: :sorted:

Dean Windass

:sorted: A proper footballer. Anyone remember him dropping his shorts in front of the Paddock? lol

.......always liked the fella ,he plays the game the right way............ha gives stick and he takes stick...............good on ya................

Will be 40 when he plays in The Premiership. AMAZING. Seems a top bloke. Honest & genuine.

Can't honestly see him playing to many games in The Premiership. Same applies to Barmby and I am sure that they hope they can keep hold of the Man.U youngster.

It will probably be a difficult season for them next year, but hey, I would willingly swap places with them. However, it gives me a little hope for the Bees, when you consider that Hull were close to being out of business not so long ago. Its wonderful what a little money and a couple of good management appointments have achieved.

Dean Windass

WELL DONE DEEEEEEEEEANO and TUUUUUUUURNO.

Dean Windass

Dean Windass is quality - he also has the rare distinction of being sent off three times in a single match - got 2 yellow cards after 21 minutes, got another one for abusing the ref, and a third for ripping out the corner flag on his way off the picth.

Dean Windass

Dean Windass

A couple of years ago he also got a "red card" in the car park of the ground.
Apparently he was getting in his car as the ref was getting into his and shouted to him (the ref) that he didn't have a very good game (or words to that effect  ). Apparently it was good natured banter but the ****** of a ref (like to know who he was) decided to report the incident to the FA and DW was banned for three games. DW claimed that he didn't swear at the ref because he had his young son in the car with him which seemed fair enough.

i'd say pretty mild-mannered then considering the ensuing kidnap attempt.

rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl

Dean Windass

Met him a few times at Masters Football when he played for Mboro. Fantastic skill and vision and power of shot.

Nice bloke too, calls a spade a spade

Dean Windass

he sounds nice then.

That was after their match against Brentford.

You could not have written the script better - Hull supporter as a kid scores the Goal to take them to the premiershite. I was going to add we all had those dreams as a Kid scoring the winning goal for the mighty Bees to get them into the premiershite .. Um only there was no Premiershite or Play offs in those days .. Must have been the FA Cup Final then

Dean Windass

He sounds like a really nice chap when he's being interviewed.

Dean Windass

Hes a good honest pro, playing for the club he loves, whats not to respect good luck to him. He's also a genuine charchter!

I remember when we played Middelsboro reserves a few years back, he signed every autograph he was asked for by the boro fans who had got there early.
