Wrong thread I suppose!

I often wonder what he could have become. He was a raw as you like but christ he was quick and when he started motoring he was a real super sub. Judging by some of our players who have gone onto to better things with such ease over the last 10 years I think he could have been a bit special.

Such a shame what happened, not self inflicted either unlike folan who just got fat after his injury.

Cruel world we live in!

He was sh*t,but looked a bit better in a sh*t team.Wouldnt of wished him that injury during the nothing cup with Oxford though:(

God I used to travel for even those games:(

What did happen to him? I know he had that horrific injury but I lost touch with what happened afterwards. I'm sure it was him away at Fulham on Tuesday night under Mickey Adams who in the second half with us at 1-1 was bearing down on their goal at full pelt but unfortunately missed. can't recall now but I think it was saved. Would have been lovely to have won there that night as they were just beginning their well off phase and we all sang 'We only cost £10' as we drew and, ultimately, went down.

Nope, he was a ron noades player from hampton. He played second fiddle to lloyd in his first season and was a bit of a super sub. The fastest player I can remember, when we made a sub you used to get a lift when you saw him and folan warm up rather than the depression nowadays. He done his knee scoring against oxford in the mickey mouse cup. I always felt he was going to be brilliant when he had established himself amd gamed experience.

I remember that game , we drew 1-1 and Nigel Gleghorn scored for us I think.

I also remember the exact moment you are talking about and thought that it may very well define Del's time at Brentford - unfortunately it did!

MHeadBee if my memory serves me right the only Hampton player Noades signed was Darren Powell

I remember that game and Del's miss clearly too. I think a few of Fulham's new big name players (such as Chris Coleman) were making their debut that night?

I remember when that little baby went in, a top memory of supporting the Bees and Nigel Gleghorn (a really nice bloke btw) will always be a top man in my books ! :bound:

I got to "share a few thoughts" with Peskydildo when he slid in to the advertising hoardings in front of us :D

I remember this game all too well. I wasn't going to go but poped down the High Street for a bar of chocolate and ended up getting on the 267 on impulse. Got off at Hammersmith and toe-ed it down to the ground just in time. As it was on impulse I was 'underdressed' for the experience of standing on a terrace next to the Thames for 2 Hours with sleet battering my face for the duration. I can just about remember the goal, but to this day I don't think I have ever been that cold!

I think to call Del Boy sh*t is a bit out of order, i thought he was alright. How many did he score in the championship season, seem to remember the odd important one that year to win us valuable points.

The thing I'll never forget about that night is the loudest rendition of 'hit him on the head with a baseball bat' I'd ever heard, and two lads in front of me on the terrace - one wearing a Keegan mask and the other bashing him with a blow-up baseball bat. rofl rofl rofl

Fair enough but i can remember three of those of the top of my head

One rescued a point at home to prevent an embarrasing defeat against a Scarborough team heading out the league. One was in the 3 - 2 thriller against Torquay a vital three points, and another sealed a win at Chester when it was 2-1 and we were looking bit nervy. Without them we wouldnt have won the title. Whenever he was used as a bit part player that year he did alright and he would be nowhere near my list of bad brentford strikers put it that way!

I met him a couple of times as mates of mine from Richmond college went to school with him at Henry Compton Boys school in Fulham :eek:

A genuine chap,deserved to go further and was very unlucky with injuries :(

Blimey i remember this game too and the exact point you mention. Im sure he was through on goal then all of a sudden with his big toe he somehow put the ball slightly behind him and he missed/saved. Still i really liked del!

Also that game im sure it was in the very last few seconds of the match they had a couple of corners and was putting us under alot of pressure.
If i recall, a header from someone was goalbound, but just as it was about to corss the line Carl Hutchins tired one of his dreadlocks to the post and somehow mangaed to 'head' it off the line :sorted:

I do remember a wonder header from Owusu when Derek Bryan hit one of his very hard crosses from the right that somehow Owusu connected with and buried.Great goal totally unexpected.:)

I also remember Charlie Oatway hammering or even elbowing Peschisolido right after the opening kick off with the ball miles away, just to let him know that they were in a game.

Can't support the elbow of course, but within bounds,I wish our present shower of sh*t would show as much passion and fight as Mr Oatway

I managed a couple of teams in the Combined Counties League for many years & first came across Derek Bryan when he was playing for Bedfont. He frightened the life out of everyone with his pace. I recommended him to Aldershot at the time, but he ended up at Hampton where he really made a name for himself, before his move to the Bees

I thought Derek Bryan was a very good prospect who patiently waited for his opportunity which, when it came, always seemed to be cut short by injury, one way or another. Lightning pace, decent in the air for a reasonably small bloke and the heart of a lion. The injury he took for scoring against Oxford was a sickening sight.

I remember his one and only come back appearance as a sub, when Steve Coppell put him on for the last 10 minutes or so of a game. The reception he got was as if we'd won the FA Cup, and he deserved it. Sad to say though he could've been taken off within a few minutes because it looked like his nerves burnt up all his energy and he staggered about the pitch until full time. I somehow knew at the final whistle he'd never play for us again, which is an absolute travesty, especially when you consider some of the wastrals who've made a mint out of appearing for Brentford.

Good luck Del, what ever you do. You deserve it mate. :sorted:

I also recall that when we had problems, his sub appearances usually led to a stream of excellent crosses from him which created numerous chances. Very good crosser of the ball.
