Denis Sullivan RIP

My cousin Denis sadly passed away aged 79.
He was a regular at Griffin Park in the 50s, 60s, 70s and occasionally 80s & 90s.
He was manager of Middlesex Sunday football team Green Side Dynamos.
Denis was a good cricketer and stalwart at Twickenham Cricket Club becoming vice president. He amongst others coached a 14yr old John Varney.
Denis was Twickenham born and bred like all my family and lived with his mum and dad (Mag & Harry Sullivan) a couple of doors away from the Prince Blucher opposite Twickenham Green. He had all his loves within a few yards of home and even worked round the corner at automotive the engineering company.
Although as the years go by and the memories fade, I will remember Denis as a fellow BFC fan, a real character like his dad and a good companion to my dad at BFC.
For the older BFC on the GPG who might remember, Denis and my dad use to also go to Redlees Park to watch football in front of very good crowds - not sure of the decade. Apparently my dad may have met my mum there or arranged to meet her there when she was walking the dog.
Denis's funeral was this Wednesday and it was nice to see lots of BFC colours flowers and monitors emblazened with the BFC badge.
Denis was a real character and it was fitting that his committal song was Lonnie Doneghan and My Old Man's A Dustman.

Here’s to you Denis???

RIP Denis. I had the pleasure of meeting him once, and very much enjoyed hearing his stories of Brentford. He seemed a lovely man.

RIP Denis, and sincere condolences to all your family and friends.

That’s a very characterful song, My Ole man’s a dustman, with lyrics from a bygone British era, and must be a tribute to Denis’s sense of humour and character.
He’ll be able to ask Lonnie Donegal to sing it for him now!

Hello Sir
Denis, Harry and Mag were regulars in the Blucher. Did you go to the Greenside cup final at Feltham Stadium?
We use to go to Twickenham Green to see him at the cricket and my family use to do the teas a lot of games.
Some good memories playing cards on Boxing day 's.

RIP to your Cousin Denis Ace who I am sure used to share a pint with my dad back in the 1970s.
My mum and dad were regulars in the Blucher before we left the area in 1978.
Lovely tribute.

Pretty sure your dad would have done as they lived two doors away and were frequently in there., ???
I can imagine Harry being a character in the 70s.

I can imagine Harry being a character in the 70s.
They used to walk up from Lyndhurst Avenue on a regular basis because it was the nearest pint of Fullers for him.
One person they used to sit with, drink with was John Fiddler of Medicine Head amongst others of course.
