Whilst the likes of Di Matteo and Coppell would still remain my first choices but if they are out of reach, I certainly wouldn't be against McInnes. Has a good reputation, has been linked to some high profile Championship jobs but most of all, I trust the board to get this right. They know just as well as us, if not more so, just how big this appointment is for BFC.
There's been a lot of mention regarding a bad run of form for St Johnstone this season but we're not going to be able to attract a totally perfect manager. In fact I'm not sure they even exist?! Coppell's swift departures from some clubs goes down as a blot on his copybook, obviously there was a reason Di Matteo got the sack at West Brom and even if he were interested, I wouldn't be entirely convinced by Hughton.
I would have confidence in McInnes and back him to the hilt, as SalfordBee might say. I certainly would rather see him coming in than a Buckle, Wilder, Forster, Tisdale and other names mentioned. My only genuine concern would be his experience in spending a decent budget and indeed his knowledge of our current squad (although I suppose a few chats with the backroom staff and DVD sessions may be enough to sort that out).
Would be a positive appointment and one that we wouldn't have been in a position to make a year or two ago, without MB. I definitely see this bloke as closer to a Coyle than a Butcher. That said, I still hold out hope for Di Matteo. Laughable how everyone said they don't want a 'name' but now it seems we aren't getting a 'name', it's not inspiring enough!
