Derek McInnes Next Manager?

Ok this one isn't joining us - worth a try as he seems to be generally well respected as an up and coming manager, but I'm not THAT bothered it hasn't worked out.

I would like to see us get a manager that doesn't cost us a shed load of compensation. Just think what additions to the playing squad we could buy with the amount mentioned in compensation payments (on top of the amount already paid to terminate the AS contract)

If the wife part is true, then what an absolutely ****ing
mickey mouse man and club they are, surely the **** should have checked with his wife first

To be honest I hadn't even heard of Derek McInnes until a week ago. And what has he achieved really? Finished 6th in the SPL. Got to a cup SF. Would be different if his team were turning over the likes of Rangers and Celtic. Maybe he prefers to be a biggish fish in a small pond. BFC will carry on ok without him thx to Mr Denman and Mr Bird.

I like the silence from the BFC Board on this matter. It shows them in a professional light. I would have thought it unlikely we leaked, not in our interest, as has been said already.

Good work and keep it going chaps. If the fella doesnt want to sign, so be it, move on to the next target. Whether he is number one, two or ten, will not be a story once the season starts and we start winning games.

has this left egg on our face??

Of course not you stupid boy Pike. I bet you that the story was leaked by that that haggis bashing Brown. As far as I can see BFC have been very dignified over this matter. FFs, it was only last Saturday that Mr Mills said on Bees Player that he never had a clue who the next manager would be.

We were always too wee for the wee fella eh.

Nothing embarrassing about it at all.
BFC had the ambition to go for a top Scotish manager, fair play to them. your board done their homework and made a bold move.
i am sure this is a sign that your club intends to move upward and will do their best to get into the championship.

Don't knock Del for turning it down, he obviously has confidence in his ability to take Saints further or knows he will get better offers. As i said before, this man is going to the top.
Also do not blame our chairman for wanting the best for our club he had the decency to leave the final decision to Del, fair play to him for that, he will never stand in anyones way if they want to move.
Del has now officially turned down watford and now brentford, that shows he wants bigger and knows he will get it or he has unfinished business with St Johnstone.
but he did seriously consider BFC so your club obviously showed him they have ambition.
All the best in your quest for the championship

Blah, Blah, Blah. So tell us who was responsible for the leak please, because it certainly not BFC.

The first place I saw this was The People. If that was the breaking story I would confidently say that it wasn't broken at our end. The People must have a circulation of about 30 in Scotland. Asked to name 10 newspapers I am not sure it would rate a mention. That isn't to say it wasn't an agent. I know a lot of you aren't happy with our Chairman. You join the supporters of most clubs up here. He wears his heart on his sleeve and everything he does is what he thinks is best for St Johnstone Football Club. Thats why our supporters love him.

I wish you all the best in your quest for a new manager and attempts to reach the Championship. Most of you seem genuine guys with your club's interest at heart. You do have the odd xenophobic racist though lol

The odd thing here is why the whole selection process is playing out in the local and national press. This is not the Brentford way & I for one am very uncomfortable with it. I have no idea where the information is coming from, but not only McInnes, also the other names on the shortlist are public knowedge, which suggests the McInnes link came from us rather than St Johnstone. He sounded like a good man to take on the Bees project, so it is a pity he turned it down, it is also a pity that this is now known by all & sundry.

Don't think any blame can be directed at Brentford these things happen in business,we have kept this private and was only leaked(maybe)by the Chairman or Agent of the manager. In fairness to Mclnnes this is a big decision for him and who knows if he's been tapped up by other bigger clubs. If it is a dead deal then yes we move on depending how far down the line the club were regarding this appointment Like most on here hope we havn't missed out on plan B due to this blow.I wish MB all the luck in his search for a successfull manager to take the club forward with the help of his personal funding. Some people still don't realise how lucky we are to have him at the club.

The Sun has already informed us that Boothroyd, Di Matteo and NF were due to be confirmed as Manager and The People broke The McInnes news and I'd bet that all leaked by their agents looking to keep their clients name out there to journos looking to fill space at a quiet time.

Have the club confirmed a formal offer was made? Sounds like somebody was trying to get Mcinnes a pay rise.

Top Scottish manager.....where did that come from.......has he managed in Europe ....not even Alex F..has managed in Europe......National team boss maybee....

Looks like our board learnt from the Darren Patterson debacle back then and stayed quiet throughout. Very unfortunate that this got into the public domain and interesting too that Di Matteo's agents are saying nothing. No hard feelings towards McInnes but I suggest he gets a better representative.

Derek McInnes Next Manager?

sorry ,wrong thread ,but perspective is due ,has any one seen Di Matteo's CV ????? Two seasons in management ,Forsters done 25 % of that . DM hasnt assembled a team ,hes joined a club full of decent players and fecked up in the end .If we aint getting Del I want Hill !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Derek McInnes Next Manager?

Chances are that Laughing Boy leaked the approach to the press himself to give himself more leverage at St Trinians and let other clubs know he's on the market.

Derek McInnes Next Manager?

Christ on a bike, I'd not heard the Aidy Hoofroyd link. To think he was touted as the best young manager around a couple of years back.

Concerning the McInnes / St Johnstone leak, I can't see why their chairman would want the situation publicised, on the contrary...
And to blame the agents. is too easy, just the word agent is enough for the GPGers to get an itch and use their favourite cuss word out loud.
But I've heard some of them actually behave professionally, care about their relationship with their clients, have children and even dont beat their wives up much.

I just dont recall previous Bees managerial appointments being conducted so publically, I dont think it does us any favours at all. Certainly the Terry Butcher thing was much more the cloak and dagger style, perhaps not the happiest comparison but I think you get my point.

God this annoys me, too many people love to blame us, for the umpteenth tine, we did not leak this story, it was all done their end

Derek McInnes Next Manager?

It's an interesting twist - I'll watch McInnes career with interest from here on in.

Dignified silence from the Bees board - it's not what they wanted, but we tried and if the guy says no, it's destiny for another name to go into Bees folklore and lead us into the new era and the championship.

What will be interesting is if the Bees go all out for the second name on the list or hold fire and reassess and go and tempt another manager in work, that is not on anybody's radar?

Derek McInnes Next Manager?

Brentford FC have a superinjunction against them which restricts them from confirming who are new manager will be........

Derek McInnes Next Manager?

A lot of stuff doesn't stack up with this one. McInnes says he was given permission to talk to us only recently. How does that stack up with the shortlisting having been going on for some time? Was that really the first discussion and he gets offered the job? Then his agent has not even bothered sending an apparent pay offer to him. If he turned down what we apparently offered then the Di Matteo fans will likely be similarly disappointed as we are obviously offering a sensible package and I doubt that it would be enough for him. Personally I think the McInnes thing was overhyped. I'm not as impressed as many seem to have been by all the talking up. OK he did fine but I saw him as a major financial risk. Just give it to Fozzy and let him bring in the players we need or I can see this dragging on and us ending up with a crisis appointment way into the start of the pre season and an ensuing shambles. Everyone says have faith in the Board. Well I'll have faith when I see the appointment and it better be a good un if they turn down Fozzy.

There is still 6/7 weeks before pre season even begins, plenty of time to find someone.

Derek McInnes Next Manager?

Maybe DM wasn't necessarily no.1 but one of a few with whom the job offer is being discussed? This would avoid any sense of the next in line being second best and feeling snubbed. I await further rumours with interest..............and the outcome with even more. Sometimes it pays to expect the unexpected.

Derek McInnes Next Manager?

I'm not as sorry as I might have been about this a couple of days ago. The conduct of a certain someone at St. Johnstone has been questionable at best. Would we have really wanted to negotiate with their chairman having negotiated the first hurdle?

I hope this keeps the 2,000 strong St. Johnstone regulars happy. They get to keep their man - for now.

We were happy anyway matey. I am delighted Del has chosen to stay ( for now) and am very much looking forward to going to Paisley to see St.Johnstone play St.Mirren on Saturday along with our (probably) 500 strong travelling regulars:sorted: Should I be ashamed???

I would also like to take this opportunity to wish Brentford all the success for season 2011-2012 whoever you have as boss and I will now make a point of looking out for your results.. I was gonna say Brentford can be my wee team now but that might cause some sharp responses so I will say they are now my league one team.. Good luck and goodnight;)

Derek McInnes Next Manager?

So how do you know? Did you know they'd offered it [ apparently] to McInness?

No. And I know because Wally Downes Jr was ranting on Twitter about "brentford bombing fozzy out" and how we have no class. I imagine he'd be pretty well informed as his father knows Nicky well. Also, Forster's own comments thanking folk and what a "journey" it's been seem to back that up. If he was getting the job, it would have been announced long before now. Please move on!

And no, I didn't know McInnes had been offered the job but I don't know why that's relevant.

It's relevant cos it shows that there's a lot of rumour about. Take the McInness thing. He's only said he had talks and decided to stay at Saints. Doesn't equate to being offered it in my book. I don't place too much on the Wally Downs Jr thing either. If Fozzy hadn't got it why doesn't he just say so? He's got no reason to keep stum.I think [ and hope] that fozzy is still in the mix. It's evident that you've never rated Fozzy and obviously want to move on but I rate him and I aint budging til the fat lady sings.

I think we need someone now to tie up contracts, let players go... before they go on holiday.

Situations like Grabban's need to be sorted out...

Give Forster the job...

This is not the whole story.
St. Johnstone are skint, and the simple fact the he was talking to us indicates he is ready to move to a new challenge.
i wouldn't mind betting he won't be at St Johnstone at the start of next season.

One other thing:
I don't want a manager coming to us who thinks from his first day in the job that he is bigger than us.
That's different from a manager who achieves something at a club and then thinks it's time for a bigger challenge.

Ermmmmmm, I beg to differ re Saints being skint.:nono: I would supply you with details but frankly I cannot be arsed other than to say we are one of a select few in the whole country( and that's not just sweaty sock land but the whole uk) who have a triple A credit rating and have no debt whatsoever but hey, you just carry on with your fiction based comments.

A woman scorned and all the..:sorted:

Is there a Credit Rating Premier League? And do only those with a AAA rating get to play in Europe?

If it was it would be contested by Automatic Data Processing, Johnson & Johnson (aka St Johnson?), Microsoft and ExxonMobil

How long have the board had to get this resolved, with more money than sense?

This is a feckin shambles of the highest order, where are we now???

I despair that if with MB millions we act like this, there is no hope ever.

Rubbish management. And tell me it isn't!

Bizzare logic....you can have a Quadruple A credit rating but still have no money...

As for McInness we move on, do we know that he has even been offered the job??? maybe he was just sounded out....papers, agents and Scotttish Chairman may just love a good story to further their purposes....

Interesting post on their forum.

Great line fae The Chairman at half-time last night :

"It'll look good on Derek's CV if he turns Brentford down" or words to that effect.

Well done, Chairman and thankyou Gaffer.

What a bellend. The fact is in the grand scheme of things, we are both small clubs. But at the end of the day, we are still a bigger club than St Johnstone.

Oh well. Let's move on and appoint a manager, I'm getting a bit tired of the process now but accept it takes as long as it takes.
