Dobbo

Doing a good job for Walsall in midfield, (captn today against MK Dons). If they don't go up would he come back to bolster our midfield?

Dobbo

BeeLucky hopes so, he misses him.

Dobbo

Why would he want to swap what seems a decent side Walsall side with potential, to come back to GP and possibly be playing Conference football within the next couple of seasons...?

Dobbo

I had a long standing arrangement with a mate of mine in MK that I'd go back with him to see the Dons one day after he'd come with me to see the Bees scrape a win there last year. Today was the day. I have to say it wasn't a wonderful advert for league 2 if two of the top three teams could only produce what they did. Guess what? MK Dons under Mr Allen took a 1-0 lead and tried to hang on but failed and then looked like losing it. Dobbo was skipper today and did a good holding job in centre midfield. One or two others out there would be very welcome down at GP, although I suspect we'll be passing in opposite directions come the end of the season. MA has now got Leon Knight, as a sub, and he also had John Paul McGovern who looked very useful.

Dobbo

this is what frustrates me when people criticise the Mous, Dobbo is centre mid of a team in the top three, and i believe Mousinho to be a far better player in that position.

Dobbo

Centre mid is where Dobbo should have played for us once KO'C had been moved out to his traditional position. I can only surmise that he REALLY didn't get on with MA.

Dobbo

To be fair to Mousinho he's still learning. Can't fault his effort but his distribution and decision making is poor at the moment.

I'd have Dobbo back like a shot in this years squad.

Dobbo

Releasing him and Rankin was just crazy I thought. Both could of done a job this year, solid but not exciting players.

Dobbo

Need to give Mousinho more time, I mean Makelele and Hargreaves cant pass to a teammate to save their lives

Mous is absolutely streets ahead of Dobbo.
Dobbo looked a right prospect but injury messed him up, if the Mous stays injury free he will be a real asset to us. He has played in a diffcult position in a sh*t side this season so hopefully when we iron out the problems we will see even more from him. Possible right back?

rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl ad infinitum...

on Saturday night, Hargreaves made something like 61 passes... i think it was 54 of them which reached another England player...

Agreed

Dobbo made Eddie look world class in his last proper season here...

Dobbo

He really, really didn't. :nono:

The words "Eddie" and "world class" do not belong together in any sentence.

erm, exactly...shows you how poor Dobbo was in 04/05 then !

Dobbo

I'd love Eddie's guts and determination for League Two next season, none of our current squad has it at present.

Eddie H = Brentford loyal. :love2:

isn't he conference now? He could jump well though...

is he only signing players who have scored against us in the playoffs ?

Mousinho is rubbish end of, fair enough his effort levels have been better than most this season but come on...

no way near good enough even for league 2 and how you can say he is better than Dobbo is beyond me!

Mousinho is better than Dobson.

Faster
Taller
Better Touch
Younger
Less-Injury Prone

I'll give Dobbo determination and committment to the Bees though !

Thought you were singing Daft Punk!lol

good point !

Which manager did that then?

As for bringing Dobbo back - we've currently got a centre half and a centre forward (sorry, central defender and central striker) who could leave him standing for speed over anything up to 100 yards.

Dobbo

That Mark McCammon was pretty nippy too I remember.

Not sure what your on about there pal as you'll find Dobbo has played centre mid all season for Walsall.

seen him a few times this season and he has easily bossed the games with his range of passing and tackling also throw in his reading of the game and if you have a very good midfield player.

Good shout

Mousinho may be younger than Dobbo as was highlighted earlier in thread, but what use is that when he posesses no/very little talent!? Fair play to Moushinho, he has put in a lot of effort this season but he isn't good enough at this level, Dobbo most definately is

give me Dobbo any day of the week

If Walsall aren't promoted (even though I suspect they will be) do you reckon it will be possible to lure Dobbo back to GP?

Dobbo

Dobbo before injuries was a very good player. After that he was average, would have done a decent job in centre mid perhaps, but the adulation for him as a servant to the club is clouding how he played towards the end of his stay with the Bees. Personally I was not too bothered when he left, believing there to be better (or maybe just faster...) players his wages could be spent on.

good point that he wasn't as good for us after his injury, but he has clearly regained some form with Walsall this year.

what players in our current team do you think are better than Dobbo? I'm gonna throw this one out there, that Dobbo at the moment would easily be our best player!

haven't seen Dobbo play this season but I always thought he could do a job for us in centre mid once he got fit again...

He'd have walked in to the CM position in the current Bees side, and probably only Kuffour, Ide & Abbey would have consistently performed as well.

Once again defending the present, whether it be board, manager or players. All well and good until you then slag them once they have gone.
Although I still haven't seen you slag off Noades yet, maybe you are still in his corner?

I think most thought that but to be fair to him he seems to have rediscovered his form and I go with those who say he would have done a decent job for us this season given the quality of centre mid players we have had. At least he might have scored a goal or two!!

Dobbo

dobbo wasn't the same after his injury, and one thing that didn't help was the crowd getting on his back.
if we'd had the likes of dobbo, eddie, or chris hargeaves this seaon we wouldn't have had to watch our team meekly capitulate so many times this season.
and jackie graham would have kicked the cr*p out of them!

Any of those in midfield this season (with the exception of a fit Hargreaves) and we'd have still been down. Dobbo was too slow and his passing was poor (somewhat like Mousinho), he's probably found his level and will struggle if Walsall go up.. Eddie, however, still hasnt found his level and prob never will....

You can't criticise our current midfield duo for effort or for capitulating meekly, it's just that they're only capable of doing one half of the midfielder's job.. A shame really as Leary looked the part for a bit but we seem to have done our usual coaching job on him and will send him back broken.....

Your memory really is playing tricks...Dobbo was a train wreck of a player when he left....unable to compete for a place in the team...

He may be better than Tillen, but I doubt he would be faster.
he isnt better than Mousinho, and wont be better than Mousinho next season for sure.

Dobbo

Think that's unfair. It was MA who left him out of the side, but you cannot tell me he was worse than Newman & Hutchinson in the midefield area had he been given a regular chance there. Sadly MA didn't give him a chance there that often and it was only at Reading reserves that he was played in what is proving to be his best position. Injuries hampered his last couple of years with the bees and probably was the main reason MA rarely picked him, but once fully fit he is proving many wrong about his midfield qualities at our level.

Dobbo

haha I used to mistake those 'hoofs' for measured, pin-point deliveries..I remember how Dobbo used to spray it around like Becks!

No in all seriousness I'm well aware that Dobbo wasn't at his best prior to his departure but he wasn't exactly given many opportunities under Allen and couldn't gain any real consistency after returning from injury.
This season he has been given the opportunities and has done a great job for Walsall.

Dobbo is twice as good as Mousinho, Mousinho's main attribute in my eyes is determination, something which Dobbo posesses in abundance, even more so than Mousinho, not to mention his tackling etc.

Dobbo would walk into this years team and would also be a far more effective captain than Kev!

Dobbo

He'll be back one day. They all come back one day (usually only half the player that left !).....

Dobbo

Doubt it very much..I met him in December (in a standstill traffic jam on the M40 of all places!) and he doesn't even keep in touch with anyone at BFC anymore and seemed really bitter towards the club..

Said he didn't even keep an eye out as to what they were doing except glance at the results with all the others each Saturday..

He is probably glad we are doing crap and that Walsall will be in a league above us next season!

Dobbo

Dobbo before injuries was one of our best players and noone would have wanted him to leave. BFC through and through and always 100% if not the most skilled. After injuries he was just like Alex Rhodes in that all the attributes you liked had deserted him. I know it looks like im a Mousinho hater as my other threads may say but i just dont think he is the answer despite his determination, at least not as a 1st team regular. Dobbo was definately a better all round player

Its irelevant because ;
1) Neither are/were that good.
2) Dobbo wouldn't come back here in anycase
3) If we are scraping the barrel talking about our future with both names, then we might as well pack it in now..
