Two things that got me about the winner, it made me some money on a football bet so I should enjoy it but..............watching Lewington being his usual snidey self with free digs at Pim on the floor, Pim wasn't blameless but Lewington is a cheating feck amd always has been. I also hated that good player but diving runt called Chadwick give it the finger over the mouth in a sshhh moment after the winner went in, clever thing to do.:D

Let's face it he's spent the last ten years being talked about as one for the top by pundits probably by association with his old man and it's come to nothing. He's missed his chance, he'll only ever be an ugly, ginger with a chip on his shoulder playing 3rd division football.
Chadwick is another huge underachiever - a United wonderkid whose teeth made it big but nothing else. If you had the world at your feet and ended up a figure of fun at a universally hated club you might be a bit shirty!

Even if Wimbledon FC went bust, Milton Keynes should have started in the Basement leagues and got themselves up the leagues the right way

Aldershot, Newport and now Afc Wimbledon did it so why not MK ??

Wimbledon FC were on the verge of liquidation and you have to remember that they only got the move to MK on appeal.Winkleman, who made his dough selling ice to the Eskimos, managed to convince a 3 man panel it was the right thing to do.Should they have been allowed to go bust? and be cast off into the wilderness? what would have happened to the players, staff etc.Winkleman rescued a dying club and got the green light to move to MK.Rightly or wrongly he did it.He only did what Noad£s and his midget Lebanese pal Hamman wanted to do in 1981/2.Not forgetting that there was serious talk of Dublin.
The real villains of the demise of WFC are Hamman and his bro who all along hoodwinked the supporters by claiming Plough Lane to be his and not the clubs.Trying to build a Safeways and then blocks of flats instead of a new football stadium fit for the Taylor Report and Premier League football.Instead he took them to Mr Noad£$ House of Horrors at Selhurst paying 50% of maintenance, rent and handing over a % of gate reciepts. He then flogged the dying horse to the Norwegians for 25 mill and stuffed all the dough in his bin and sent the dough to Beirut via Rudgwick Holdings Ltd where it probably still is ,hidden in a broom cupboard.Nice bit of business where he shafted those he said were his mates, the same people who started AFCW.He went to Cardiff, racked up 30 mill in debts and Noad£$ came to BFC and left us in the sh*t when he had enough and got bored.A pattern here emerges.

Kris Stewart started AFCW regardless of where WFC were going, bust or MK or staying in South London, and fair play to him he has done a good job with a good team around him.In 2002/3 AFCW were at Kingsmeadow in the CC Lge whilst WFC were at Selhurst playing DIV 2/Championship football in front of one man and his dog while AFCW were filling up non league grounds week in week out.
Could you support a new club and desert your old one? it hadnt moved yet and the appeal was way off?

Meanwhile the Koppel clan were trying to keep WFC afloat and can you imagine the uproar if they had pulled the plug and cleared off to Oslo? They're chance to bugger off came when Pete Winkle-man,it is a double barrel name now you know, came into town with a fistful of Euros and made the Koppel clan an offer they didnt want to refuse.A crap club desserted by its fan base, previous owner/s and struggling with the lowest attendances the 2nd tier of the Football League had ever witnessed. It all made sense. If what he done is wrong then thats an opinion thats your choice.WFC was always going to be hung out to dry somewhere and i commend Pete Winkle in having the foresight to rescue a dying club and ressurecting it to the club it is now.Like i say rightly or wrongly, but there is 2 sides to this tale.

Aldershot never had the luck of being rescued and it died only to,as they put it,Rise like a Phoenix from the Ashes.Their supporters were ***** in non league too btw.

Newport County were Conference when they went under and were exiled to Gloucestershire to ply their trade as the Welsh FA didnt like them too much.Once again they were not an attractive proposition so they had no choice, thats the secret, buy a club before it folds.

Will mention Maidstone who are finding it harder to move upwards, but they are a decent club run by people who care. They dream of a home of their own back where they belong and would love to use their old name, but that club still owe the tax man a few bob so that may not happen. Also when Maidstone United went bust,Dartford inherited the debts as they groundshared at the time.So if WFC did go under and they played at the home of CPFC,would they have inherited WFC shortcomings?

For the record,i am BFC 100% and do not care too much for these clubs mentioned unless i say so,its just there is always 2 sides to any story.

Maidstone have their own ground and are doing pretty well now HB.
We played them in the FA Cup this season and copped over £3k from the 900 plus gate!

Am pleased about that SB.A cracking club IMO and I remember taking U/18s there to Lordswood and getting spanked 4-0.A young kid played for them called Chris Smalling. Wonder where he went?
Met the Chairman down at Horsham YMCA one afternoon during a cracking 2-2 and he told me his plans and what he wanted to achieve.May have been 3/4 year ago now, time moves quickly in Outer West Sussex.
New Years resolution for me is keeping my finger on the pulse ;)

Pity how things are re both Horsham clubs. Seen good games over the years at both grounds.
Is a merger an option?

I don't think it matters what league they are in to be honest, there always *****. I think a lot of 'non league' fans will have animosity to any bigger team that comes their way. It's the underdog versus the 'big' club scenario and given that non league fans are fans of non league in the first place means that they are likely to favor the under dogs. Its the same when the likes of Leeds and Sheffield United come down here, we all say how they think their billy big time when the reality it is they are just acting the same as they would be if they were playing Brentford or Man Utd. IMO it would be more condescending to act differently around 'smaller' teams than the 'big' teams they are used to playing. Plus is must be boring for 3,000 Wimbledon fans to turn up at a s**thole with a handful of fans supporting the opposition, so winding a few people up probably makes it a bit more interesting. I expect we would be exactly the same.

A merger? No chance SB.The two clubs, despite ground sharing,do not really like each other.
Looking dodgy for Horsham FC this season and its likely County League next year.YM were a cracking little club who could not sustain Isthmian League football on poor attendances plus the demise of sponsor Glandwish Land who lost cak loads in a divorce settlement.

Because they weren't a new club. They were Wimbledon FC relocating and changing their name.

so it would have been ok for us to move to woking ?

Dons V Dons

But it has and was planned long before it happened. As I have stated many times before AFCW were to be created regardless of where Wimbledon ended up and if they stayed at Selhurst then who deserted that club??
Bollox to the pair of them IMO.

doesnt matter when it was planned, the whole scenario is a disgrace.i didnt care less about wimbledon beforehand, and still dont really. As a football fan,it is a disgrace, americanising football

The fact is always glossed over that while AFC helped Kingstonian from going bust, they took over the latter club's patch and still don't play in Wimbledon.

Is there any proof they “saved Kingstonian” I mean they were certainly in a bad state but did Wimbledon save them? Either Way Wimbledon playing in Kingston is slowing killing Kingstonian in many ways, that is never reported.

There was a brilliant blog post a Kingstonian fan did on the eve of AFC getting promoted to the league, can't find it, but I *think* that person said taking the ground off Kingstonian helped keep the club alive.

The fact is AFC Wimbledon were only formed after the appeal went in MK's favour and the move was signed and sealed. The picture you paint of Wimbledon fans deserting their club and watching AFC long before the appeal was heard is simply not true.

Wimbledon were not on the verge of liquidation either, they were not even in administration at the time.

That isnt the case because K's didnt own the ground at that time as the asset stripper Khosla (a mini of Ron Noades at Brentford) had bought the ground and it was him alone that sold it to Wimbledon. K's didnt have a say in the matter and Khosla sold the ground to Wimbledon for 2-2.5 mill when he had only paid 500k for it two years earlier (when K's had entered administration).

hopefully, theyre run properly now and being currently rent free make the most of that fact,if wimbledon do move, kingstonian will have moved up a few league and have theur ground back, that is being improved as we write

None of the money goes to Kingstonian, essentially their catchment area for fans, local talented kids and main asset (their ground) has been lost to Wimbledon. K's are doing alright but should really be looking at promotion this year, whenever i have watched them (between 2 and 5 times a season over the last 10 years) they have played decent football and it is always a decent game, they have some good players.

Its minimal rent but their income has also been stifled (IE no bar revenue etc as this goes to AFC). When/if Wimbledon do move back to Wimbledon, and take all the local supporters that have jumped on the bandwagon with them, who will support K's?

See my post above, K's financial trouble was their own mis management but the rise (and love in) of Wimbledon will have massive effects on the future of K's. Perhaps Wimbledon did save Kingstonian (i think, as do some Wimbldon fans, it could have been done differently) but ironically they will also kill them off. K's were between a rock and a hard place so didnt really have much choice, but Wimbledon could of leased, instead of bought the ground, which would make it easier for them to move to Wimbledon and also allow K's to own (at least) some of their ground.

Thats the real problem mate, Wimbledon (when in the premiership) were like what fulham are now in terms of neutrals etc. They had a big presence hear in Chessington, summer holiday camps for kids, they had local coaches take our PE lessons in school and gave out lots of free stuff including tickets for games. The locals had a soft spot for them but probably only went if it was a freebie. Now they all hark back to the days when they went to watch Wimbledon (once or twice a season) at Selhurst (fogetting they only went to see Man Utd) and feel their real fans. Kingstonian are an after thought, lots of the local lads my age have traded their man utd, chelsea and arsenal shirts that they wore as kids for AFC Wimbledon ones, and they are quick to tell you that they have an uncle who used to play for their under 9's once back in 1978...which is obviously proof they are loyal fans.

This means that people of all ages have jumped on the bandwagon and their will be a massive void of local support that will follow Wimbldon out of Kingston if they move, if they remain in Kingston then K's will always live in their shadow and wont attract the local support the fine old club deserves.

wimbledon taking the majority of the costs would have eased and helped. If k's were on verge of league football then as quickly on the verge of going extinct then,as do so many non league clubs i bet they took a massive financial gamble in trying to get there, but it backfired, which with non league clubs sends them bust.what was their average when doing well, they didnt bring that good of a crowd to us in the cup that year, considering the distance
