It's relative, that end was favoured by most K's fans and had the most atmosphere.

saying a near 15,000 capacity oak, with the history it had,is the same as having seats put in to their kingston road stand, which ive never seen but know it doesnt come close to the oak in size or history,is silly.I'd love to have seats in the oak instead of that sh*tty embarrassing joke of stand put in its place

The Royal Oak never held 15000. Nearer to 10000 at best.

lets not split hairs,it wa san estimate not too far off.compared to the kingston road stand that i reckon held no more than 1500

My point was that a sh*tty stand has replaced something that it shouldn't have. I'm not saying Kingston Road terrace has the history or size as The Oak

Maybe a better example would have been if we lost Ealing Road in similar circumstances, but that would only be hypothetical.

thats better

but if we progress up the leagues we would have to put seats in ealing.league rules !

A merger? No chance SB.The two clubs, despite ground sharing,do not really like each other.
Looking dodgy for Horsham FC this season and its likely County League next year.YM were a cracking little club who could not sustain Isthmian League football on poor attendances plus the demise of sponsor Glandwish Land who lost cak loads in a divorce settlement.

I'd like Horsham in the CCL? We played Withdean 2000 FC at Queen Street once.

Dons V Dons

They're in the Ryman Premier. Their attendances have dropped as AFC have risen. From that blog post I mentioned, I think the poster said that Kingstonian play at the ground rent free, but what happens to Kingstonian if AFC up sticks and move to Wimbledon?

K's pay a peppercorn to play there. AFCW own the lease on the ground.

Dons V Dons

Attendance tonight was 168

Surrey Senior Cup. C-Casuals won 2-1 btw.

I have ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT that AFCW will leave Kingsmeadow in the future.
There is an ideal site ready for them but they can't afford to buy it at present!

Someone said on telly sunday they going 20k (lol) stadium back in Merton ??

Demolishing the Kingston Road terrace and putting sh*tty seats in, is the equivalent of us losing the Royal Oak

But that is the Football League Rules !!!

If they had not put 2000 seats in the ground they could have been relegated

Dons V Dons

If you had ever stood at the Kingston Road End you would have no issues with it being knocked down !!!

Dons V Dons

If AFC move out then Kingstonian will be left with a league-standard ground to play non-league football at, which might sound a good thing, but presumably the cost of maintaining a league ground is higher than a non-league one and the fans will be forced to sit down behind the goal when they'd probably rather stand.

Plus there is no way K's could afford to buy it back off AFC so it 's more likely AFC would sell it for housing and K's would be left homeless and have to move out of Kingston.

Dons V Dons

K's always did have a very good ground for non league standards

If they had ever made it into the Conference they would have made changes themselves

About 10 years ago they were looking a good bet.

Now they are on par with Hampton rather than Woking

Rushden & Diamonds probably wouldn't have gone bust if MK Dons hadn't been plonked on their doorstep.

I know Brentford have to compete with Fulham, Chelsea & QPR for fans and youth players but at least they've earned their place in the league by rights, Luton, Northampton etc. have had a club plonked on their doorstep which have creamed off the best local youth players and lost fans to a club which have no right to be there.

Northampton is massive and hadn't cared about their club for years, they were peerenial bottom of the league fighters with 2k or less turning up when I moved up here 20 years ago, they got a council built ground and more followers but MK has nowt to do with their plight IMO, Northamptonshire has one league team and has tried for city staturs for donks. I think you need 240k of people for that to happen and only getting 4k at home for league games is poor with little opposition around. R & D went bust when Max Griggs and his bovver boots went out of fashion again, again IMO nowt to do with MK as he simply withdrew his financial muscle and the team slipped into oblivion.

They were in the Conference from 1998 to 2001, when they knocked us out of the FA Cup and won the FA Trophy twice.

They applied for planning permission just before the wheels fell off, but obviously didn't require the changes as they started to plummet. They only won the FA trophy once but lost in the final the year later.

The fact is AFC Wimbledon were only formed after the appeal went in MK's favour and the move was signed and sealed. The picture you paint of Wimbledon fans deserting their club and watching AFC long before the appeal was heard is simply not true.

Wimbledon were not on the verge of liquidation either, they were not even in administration at the time.

It was his plan B.like I said before 2002/3 season WFC were at Selhurst and AFCW were in Kingston.I personally would have found it difficult to desert my team to follow another.I can see why most did,but I couldn't have done that.I would have stayed to the bitter end and who knows after that.Probably go to MK or gave up.

i wasnt getting at if the noades/hamman gave a toss about the fans,i was on about the overwhelming vote was against the move, name change
instead of swapping the clubs, why didnt they just put all the money into mk city,do it properly, have some pride, morals about it
i hate everything about mk dons, hope they go bust.i dont care about wimbledon or afc but never wish that on them or any other Club
you wouldnt have deserted BFC ? Even if we were then renamed Woking or Kingstonian Bees ? yeah alright,me too.
there are many reasons why arsenal should be disliked. And yes, what has north london got to do with arsenal woolwich

As I said before about many other clubs MK City mark 2 were not in anyway a viable option. The reason I mention Dick Dastardly and Muttley as these were the two that wanted to move WFC to MK in 1979,bought MK City mark 1 and folded the club up in 1985 without a thought for fans of either club.Thats where the story of WFC moving to MK starts and if they had moved in 1980/1/2 or 83 would we give a monkeys now? Probably not tbh.

You have now lost me.

Do you call Man Utd Newton Heath or City Ardwick? If you do fair play to you.

qPR tried to buy BFC and failed, thankfully, and there are those amongst us who remember it too well.Dark days indeed. For that gesture they are despised by us,but there would have been some supporters up and down the land who probably wouldn't have cared tbh,but we do and that's what counts.I've no cares for either MK or AFCW,but will always give my opinion on the history of WFC eventual move to MK wether the move was right or wrong. Many has an opinion and you now know mine and I know yours. It will always differ and for that I respect your side.

You must have been spitting feathers when Bristol Rovers moved to Twerton Park

I fail to see why we should give a toss about either of them. Two clubs with no history laying tenuous claim to a defunct club, neither near the original location, that had very little history in the first place, apart from some grainy film of a Wembley Cup Final. If neither new club existed, would Brentford FC lose or benefit?

There would be one less team above us in L1!
