Dorchester

The pub near the station is or at least was called the Stationmasters. Next nearest is the Junction - turn out of the station road do a right a five minute walk.

If anyone wants any Dorchester information ask away, I am a bit of an expert on the subject. For the more cultured amongst you and for those with an historical bent Maiden Catle - a brisk walk from the ground is well worth a look if you are spending any time there (old Roman fort).

For those getting down quickly by car don't go into Dorchester- stay on the by-pass the ground is right there.

It is a bit like Belgium - half the locals are 'southerners' and half the locals are 'bumpkins'.

Ask away?

We will be arriving by car at about 1.30. Which is the best pub, and can we park there til we leave? We know about the boozer by the station, rumoured to be run by a bees fan.

Bear in mind there could be parking restrictions, but there is car parking available in the pub car park; also a large car park opposite there as well as the TESCO car park right by the ground. Pub you are referring to is the Stationmasters - come off the by-pass - a right at the roundabout if you are coming from the East, then go straight until you reach the lights at a crossroads, go straight on again and its 150m on your right.

Boring fact No 1 - David McGhee played one game for Dorchester in the centre of midfield after being released by Brentford and was totally outclassed in the Southern Premier League.

I'll be taking the wife but she'll be spending the afternoon in Dorchester whilst I watch the match. Will there be enough in town to keep her amused ...and we're talking shops and my credit card? Will she do much damage?

Well it would depend on your credit card, if it is anything like mine, she would damage it by purchasing an extra value meal!

Dorchester

Not much likelihood of damage - there's not that much to buy in West Dorset - it's a cross between one of the better East European countries before 1989 (in terms of retail outets) and the sort of place Miss Marple would shop. Probably the worst scenario is she comes back with a couple of jumpers, some twee ornament and half a pound of fudge.

Dorchester

One of the smallest M&Ss in the country - the good people of Dorchester feared it could be for the chop if their financial woes became too bad.
