A few years before my time but I read about when he didn't turn up for Hayes against Hendon until the 80th minute. He then came on drunk and scored the only goal of the game. Same article said he was due to sign for Bees but decided to retire instead

We chose not to sign him from Hayes off the back of his reputation. He joined Reading and was an awesome, fearsome, horrible Kant who always played well against us.
Got a move to Cardiff and after sustaining an injury that resulted in a long lay off he took a wrong turn and the rest is history.
He was a freakishly good player who made Joey Barton look like a choirboy and if you're interested "The best footballer you never saw" is a fascinating read.
