Has anyone ever been to this? If so what is the best way to secure a ticket. I'm aware of the usual channels to get La Liga tickets for Barca or Real home games (been to Real once before) but understandably will be harder to get to the Barca v Real game this December.

Any tips appreciated

Through groupon my ex managed to get Barcelona v Atletico Madrid tickets and overnight accommodation in the city.
They had tickets for the Real Madrid game too but were well out of my price range. Maybe you can investigate that.
And the tickets were real so no need to think otherwise if your unsure.

saw it at barca in 86 or 87.....lineaker scored and archibald was their favourite player unbeliveably !!!! hugu sanchez scored for real, ended 2-1 barca and we were standing next to the only 10 madrid fans in the whole ground......lucky they had one of those horseshoe wine bag things lol
tickets are probably very hard to get as barca season tickets only buy a ticket for about 4 games their interested in and a lot dont even bother going to most games....rubbish atmosphere though and bees/fulham is 10 times better and im not exagerating worth seeing once but theres bigger and better ones to go to around europe

It's my 40th birthday weekend and Barcelona is about the only place I can hope to get the Mrs to and let me drag her to a game as well

in that case, its a wise choice squire

when there go near the port and try and found the 'no name' cava bar......its mayhem but good fun and cheap....you can usually find it by seeing the crowd trying to get in at anytime lol

I presume you mean the old port!

Get a taxi to Plaça de Catalunya, stroll around it and then walk down Las Ramblas. Remember that you don't eat until around 10pm but drop into a tapas bar or two and stave off any hunger pangs on the way down. At the end, drift left down to the old port where there any many restaurants and bars - all a bit touristy - but you've got to do it. It's perfectly acceptable to just get a main course and then walk back up Las Ramblas and grab a dessert in one place and a coffee in another. By the time you walk back up, it will have livened up and stopping for a coffee outside to watch the world go by has got to be done.

Take a Gaudí bus tour during the day and your partner will be yours before you announce going up the Avinguda Diagonal (ooh missus!) to do the Bernabéu tour!

Looking around all the options regarding a match ticket it seems possibly doing a package via Thomas Cook may be best, accommodation plus match tickets and no hassles.

Probably not the absolute cheapest option but not bad either considering the match ticket prices I've seen on the resale websites.

Any thoughts on that approach or indeed any alternative options?

BTW, meant to add Groupon appears to be same ish price to Thomas Cook but hotel seems to be a "no see" gamble where as on Thomas Cook you can see and choose preferred hotel.

I went to see Barcelona v At. Madrid via groupon company and the hotel wasn't the greatest but as it was a weekend away in Barcelona with the gf at the time it was ok. Opposite what looked like a school, down a road with very little on it, it was very quiet to be honest. But the walking to a tube station wasn't easy.
I'd recommend going with Thomas Cook or someone similar and getting a better deal (hotel wise).
