Electrical repairs

Before I hit google, just wondered if there was anyone who can fix a microwave which doesn't heat any more and fridge freezer which isn't as cold any more.

PM if you can help.
Cheers

Electrical repairs

It's often the door seals with old fridges rather than the electrics, check it's properly shutting. Unplug the microwave, press some buttons, open up the back, clean anything you can see is dirty and tighten anything that looks loose. Other than that you're likely stuffed and the repairs will cost you more than a new one.

And that's my annual piece of genuine advice out of the way thankfully.

Microwave is one of these combi micro/oven things and it's not that old. I'm sure it's something simple. Will do what you say Carri and spend all tomorrow evening taking it apart.

Fridge is is just over a year old, one of those self defrosting types. Will have to call someone out.

...........................the first piece of sound advice I've seen from CBU on the GPG (I may have missed others??:fishing:).................................

but what you should do Spender is take out one of those domestic appliance insurance cover type things (Domestic & General (I think) is the name that comes to mind), and after a couple of weeks, give them a call and tell them that things don't appear to be working right....................in the meantime, don't buy any foods or drinks that need to be refrigerated, nor buy any microwave meals.................
.............hope that helps.............

and seriously, another alternative is to contact the manufacturer or sellers of the appliances, tell them that theappliances should have an automatic warranty (of I think up to 3 years, although they never publicise these things) and ask them what they're going to do about it..........................(it is enshrined somewhere in all the consumer legislation, you might need to do some Google time).................hope that helps too

Electrical repairs

lol clearly quite the piece of sh*t.

Generally speaking, no point insuring, or paying for repair of anything that it would cost less than £100 to replace.

It's amusing, in places like Argos, to be offered insurance on something like a £6 kettle

Hmm. A newish microwave that won't get hot and a newish fridge that won't get cold. Just a hunch - but I might be on to something here. Do the lights work at your house?

I bet he's forgotten to feed the kids pedalling away on the bikes to keep the generator going

1): Has your electric supplier cut you off?

2): Have you checked the fuses? :fishing:
