we just need pakistan to do us a favour. if they win, we`re almost certainly through.
to think a team can progress because of death threats is inconceivable. zimbabwe should be punished for this.
if the boot was on the other foot, England would have been expelled from the competition.

On the bright side it might be in our favour as it hasn't dented our run rate and means Pakistan will have something to play for now and a bigger incentive to beat Zimbabwe meaning we go through to the super sixes which we could get through as Kenya are certainly beatable and I think were capable of beating New Zealand, Sri Lanka or South Africa if were at our best.

All in all a crap weekend, Caddick and Flintoff should have come on to finish them off, instead of Anderson, also we should have had more close fielders around the bat. :mad1:

England aren't out. Pakistan face a herculean task to get through on run-rate.
The International Cricket Council have come up with the following possibilities ( taken from report on Cricinfo ):
If Zimbabwe bat first and score 100, Pakistan will need to get the runs in 10.5 overs. If they score 150, Pakistan will need to get the runs in 12.1 overs. A score of 200 allows Pakistan 13.2 overs, while 250 allows 14.2 overs.
If Pakistan bat first and score 200 they will need to dismiss Zimbabwe for 13 or less. If they score 250 they will need to dismiss Zimbabwe for 62 or less while 300 sets a target of 112 or less. Should Pakistan reach the dizzy heights of 350, the target goes up to 161.
The above is for Pakistan to qualify. If they win and achieve above they go through and if the win and don't achieve above then England go through.
Zim must win or draw to go through.
The biggest worry for England fans is - will Pakistan actually beat Zimbabwe, because Pakistan have been playing pants in this tournament, whilst Zim have acquitted themselves fairly well.

very disappointing but that bevan is awesome, and played a magnificent innings. what a match for bichel too. shame for anderson that he's mis-fired on the biggest game of his career, but he'll be back. we pushed em close, that's for sure!

Very disappointing to lose from a position of strength, but it didn't make much difference in the grand scheme of things.
I think Pakistan will do us a favour and we will go through, looking at the figures above their chance of qualifying is very slim.
Harsh criticism of Anderson, he didn't pick himself to bowl the crucial over, and has been superb for most of the tournament.

Poor bloke, I think he must have been praying for us to do badly so he had something to do yesterday.
A narrow defeat was always going to give us the best chance of qualifying.
