Shelvey?! in or out?
Shelvey?! in or out?
if I have to watch another Dier-Henderson central midfield masterclass :no:In, he's a fruit loop but capable of special and if he stays on the park can see him causing teams all sorts of problems.
He seems to have an "I don't give a toss" attitude, as in I don't think the pressure will get to him or change the way he plays. I think that would be welcome.
Agree, I fear refs will be looking for him and other sides cheats targeting him but he is exciting and like you say has an arrogance or confidence that on its day is what may make a positive difference. Journeymen haven't won us anything ever so leave them on the bench.
.....................in.................Shelvey?! in or out?
In the last two internationals we played 3 CBs and 1 holding midfielder. So I think it will be Henderson or Dier in the starting 11 unless Dier plays at CB.
Joe Hart has been told he will not be in the squad.
Wow - not sure this is a great idea. If he was a third choice goalkeeper then he would be unlikely to be involved at all in any matches, but his general tournament experience could be quite useful. The likelihood that Pope - or whoever it is as 3rd choice - will get any game time would be minimal, and might therefore not add much to the wider squad.
on the other hand, he might sulk at his diminished status, whereas Pope or whoever (Bentley) would be excited to be there

I don't think he comes across as sulky - he's dealt very well with not being first choice at Man City and hasn't seemed to have kicked up a fuss at any point. In fact I seem to recall Pep stating how professional he's been throughout.
they've decided that way. so
That's because he's on a nice contract until next summer and knows the only way is down for him...a remarkably fast decline in career at a young age for a keeper....I don't think he comes across as sulky - he's dealt very well with not being first choice at Man City and hasn't seemed to have kicked up a fuss at any point. You're right, no point discussing anything at all, ever, once a decision has been made about it

I never understand this tournament experience thing.......why would you want to bring experience of making mistakes and losing?
We learn more from failure than we do from success.
If that was true we'd have won the world cup by now with all our experience!![]()

By all accounts he is a very good pro.
Sounds like he's going for a very inexperienced squad. I think he's going to pick players not scarred by previous failure.
Which I commend, why just be ordinary. I’d rather die trying than wimp out.
Surprised at Wilshire's exclusion, I know he is a bit fragile but he seems to have regained fitness and form for Arsenal and there is just nobody else like him who can unlock tight defences. Seems Southgate is continuing with that old England tradition of mistrusting creative midfield players.
.............Graham retired................No poll ?
I will be happy if we make the last 16. But over the moon if we get into the final 8.
