Brentford have completed the signing of central defender Ethan Pinnock from Barnsley for an undisclosed fee. The 26-year-old London-born defender completed a medical earlier today, Tuesday 2 July, and signed a three-year deal. There is a Club option for an extra year. He will link up with The Bees this week and is available for the pre-season friendly against AFC Wimbledon on Friday ahead of the training camp in Austria that begins on Saturday.

Would suggest given his age not a lot of sell on potential here (compared to a Meps) but more about buying quality to help us progress.

Barnsley fans seem to think he's a steal, should the region of the £3mill fee be accurate.
He has had quite the step up considering he was playing in the isthmian leagues just 3 years ago.

if we were to get promoted, a premier league defender aged 27/28 would still command a decent fee :)

Looked strong and positive whenever I watched him last season. A left footer who played on the right for Barnsley. Really good in the air, quick and a good long passer of the ball. He has not got too many mile son the clock and still ha sa lot of scope for improvement. Really pleased with this signing.

He has championship experience as well as a great season last year in League 1. Whats not to like. Astute signing really

Yeah, a bit like the Noorgaard signing, it's exactly what we need. Very good start to the transfer window so far.
If we somehow hang on to our Frenchmen then it could be a very exciting season!

A touch of John Egan about Pinnock. Aerially dominant, strongly physically and a defender first and foremost. But whilst he’s not as good on the ball as say, Konsa, he’s confident in receiving the ball on the ground and an effective decision maker, playing a long ball of booting it into Row Z if needs be.

He will be vital in tough away games where last season Mepham and Konsa struggled with the ugly side of football.

It's a good signing but if he wanted to come back to London at a championship club we were surely in pole position.

We tried to sign him in January but got a knock back so I heard great signing onwards and upwards coyr

Says all you need to know really.

Normally you get the usual line that he's crap, but this appears to be a tremendous signing.

Having now spent some time perusing the Barnsley forums, this signing sounds like such a great bit of business! Now if we were to keep Konsa that defense might start looking quite tasty.

They were all undisclosed so how do we know? Itk people, if there really are any, should not be disclosing if the Club don't want the figures announced!

Not seen him play, I was told his distribution is a strong point, that not the case?

Liking this! With Julian two solid big centre backs with Konsa the more ball playing one. We needed to sure up the defence

Was our number 1 target to replace Mepham in January - couldn't get the deal done then and probably the player himself wanted to stay on and help Barnsley promoted. Not seem him play myself but looks a coup. I am delighted with this signing, especially as he has been on our radar for a while now.

I am sure he will make the step up with ease. Welcome to the club Ethan

Yep, we wanted a bit of experience, height and steel and we’ve got Norgaard and Pinnock who fit the bill.
Now if we could just keep the forwards or if we have to sell pray we have replacements lined up.

If he can maintain the standards of last season - and why wouldn’t he? - then he’s going to add a lot to Bees defensively and is decent, if a bit ungainly, with the ball.

Whilst the other lot down the road are getting all excited about picking up Barbet on a free, we casually pick up the best CB in league one last season bringing our spending up to £6m so far this summer.... Top work as usual!
