Evening Lads

Coming over in November I think for a weekend and wanted to take in a non Premiership game where the real football is. Coming over from Ireland for a few days. What should I get clued in on? Want to see Brentford against MK Dons , does the game be packed? I'll be staying in London for a few days so any recommendations about hotels in Central London would be cool as well and yer local boozer! You have four pubs on the ground apparently? Im a Saint Patricks Athletic fan here in Dublin, we're fourth in the Airtricity Premier League...Enjoy yer evening lads

MK - yeh we'll have them. Come and stand behind the goal at the back of the Ealing Road stand if you fancy some banter. Best pub anywhere before the game is the Globe about 15 mins walk away from the ground. There are 3 hotels in Brentford, Holiday Inn, Premier Inn,and Travelodge. I believe that they also do rooms above the Princess Royal which is one of the 4 pubs around the ground. The other 3 pubs are the New Inn run by Noel one of your countrymen, the Royal Oak which is fair, and the Griffin best avoided as the landlord Ralph is the most miserable bastard known to man.

Behind the goal sounds like a bit of craic. Probably going to stay in London City Centre was going to do a bit of sight seeing as well! Wouldnt mind a few pints before the game, god knows I'll be hungover from the night before!

You are much better and cheaper to stay on the suburbs, plenty of places have fast train links into London (10-20mins).

Just looked at hotel prices and you are right. Prices are mental. Train is only half hour to brentford on the reading line so that seems pretty good.

Check out www.laterooms.com If you book up a month ahead you'll be sure to find a good deal. I just checked it and there are loads of cheap rooms on there.

premier inn brentford mate... from £29 if booked 21 days in advance.. 24hr bar. 5 mins to the ground.. you got the piccadilly line, and over ground into london 30 mins! and if out, the night bus stops right outside it!

As someone else mentioned its probably best to stay in the suburbs. Have a look at www.visitrichmond.co.uk. There is accommodation on the website or give them a ring if you would like further information.

Den, if you have a decent CM at Saint Patricks, that can pass the ball ten yards to a team mate, bring him with you, then we can all enjoy the day!

Im from Dublin staying in Kensingston, have the trains worked out .....looking forward to the local brews!

Both feet on the ground when the ball is delivered - looked OK to me.

From where?

If you're coming from Waterloo/Clapham/Vauxhall, then it's the Hounslow train you'd need.

If you're on the Underground then Piccadilly line trains to Heathrow or Northfields getting off at South Ealing.

...And if you're coming out of Paddington, then the Reading train is fine (along with the Heathrow Connect and most trains to destinations to Oxford and the West.

Just make sure they say the train stops at Ealing Broadway...

You can then get the 65 bus which runs every 10-12 mins all the way to the ground from outside Ealing Broadway station.
