Hopefully we can build on the Newcastle game + we might have Zanka/Wissa back? That'd be a welcome boost.

I’m pretty sure they have more ‘starters’ out than us… Raya, Ajer and that’s it isn’t it based on the first choice eleven at the start of the season (I realise it isn’t as simple as that because we have replacements of starters also injured and several of our most impactful subs injured but that isn’t how it will be viewed by neutrals)… could possibly add JDS to that but he hasn’t played any premier league minutes or any football at all for almost a year.

Yep. But of course the quality of the oppo etc doesn't matter. They are obviously just f***ed given the run of results. We have one point from last 5 so are certainties for relegation!

We have to be at our best i know, but looking on the positive side here.

How do you know if they are playing well just from the results?

A game between two sides with many injuries and on poor runs that will be decided on the day… that’s my considered view.

I have no problem if the pundits on MOTD2 next weekend bang on about how Everton's injury list contributed to their heavy defeat!

We « suffer » from those pundits only knowing Toney from our squad, so don’t know anyone else, missing or not. Most other Premium League squads are known, so they know who’s missing.

They can’t even beat teams like Manchester United & QPR.
Go above them if we win too.

Good time to play them but this is massive. December fixtures look really tough for us. Would be great to get 3 points on the board for us and pull Everton down into the melee

Everton have the derby after us. Not sure what that'll do to their mindset for this one

Yes, but we have people coming back and finished our last game on a relative high. Everton by contrast got thumped 0-3 and appear despondent, with players absent through injury and suspension. That's not to say that a Brentford win is written in the stars but it definitely sets the odds on our side.

It’ll be tactically interesting to see how TF approaches this. They have had even more significant injury losses than us but Benitez is a good manager. I think apart from the late collapse against Watford they haven’t been terrible, just lacking quality. But lacking quality at this level doesn’t mean their players are rubbish, just not as consistently strong as the top ones. They still have the ability to hurt us.

I think Benitez will rightly see it as a much more winnable game than City where he set them up to contain and frustrate as far as possible. I doubt they’ll try the same here and as we saw with Norwich, even a team in the doldrums can have a go. So I’d like us to revert to our early season approach and be solid, playing CN, VJ, FTT in the middle and working the overloads. This does depend on getting Zanka back for Sunday as there’s an extent to which we have to carry Goode or Roerslev as RCB. That said, in the absence of Grey, if his injury keeps him out, I don’t think Iwobi is nearly as threatening a LW as Saint Maximin and I’m not sure who they can play as CF with Richarlison suspended.

Work has seen me use the exchange for this one, but considering I'm yet to see us win this season it's nailed on for a Bees win.

They were proper terrible against Wolves. First half was absolutely abject.

I'm not convinced there's a need to "carry" Roerslev. He's had little experience of the Premier League so far and wasn't even a regular in the Championship, so he's got a steep learning curve ahead of him. But I think he's got the talent to establish himself fairly rapidly if required to do so.

I'm less sure about Goode, though he's in a similar sitatuation to Roerslev as regards lop-level experience.

The way our defence is the more goals we score the better as there is no guarantee we won't let in 3 or 4

Biggest game of the season so far for me - get the win against a severely depleted Everton side and i think we get some confidence back. Couple more injured players back would be nice too... I'm going 2-0.
