Everton updates

how much money will brentford get for getting through

[Ken Richardson]

Oh my god, O thee of little faith, and that's me. I'm crying I cannot take all in. Thank you lads one and all.

That was great, but I reckon tonight is better, because Everton are a long-established Premier League side. And they put out a decent side.

A few players tonight have added to their value. I can't calm down right now - still shaking....

agree 100% that was a very very good team we beat tonight...

[joet]

are we now better than man utd, or only 'just as good'?

[ReggieK]

Fantastic result. Not been this happy since we slapped Mick McCarthy's Sunderland. Love to do it again against Wolves.

Everton's stodgy start to the season in the Premier League turned into a disastrous one last night as they were knocked out of the Carling Cup to great scenes of pitch-invading jubilation by Brentford of League One after a penalty shoot-out at a boisterously full-throated Griffin Park. This was a genuine upset too - David Moyes had started with a strong XI - and much credit must go to Andy Scott's resourceful and well-organised team who were well worth their victory, sealed when Jermaine Beckford and Phil Jagielka missed from the spot after a 1-1 draw in normal time.
