F1

Michael Schumacher said:
The drivers' championship is over because I don't want to go to Brazil hoping someone else retires

He didn't seem to mind it when he drove Damon Hill off the track in Australia.

....gentlemen start your engines.................

F1

It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy:rolleyes:

Last race this weekend.

Beaker needs to win, Alonso needs a point.

Will the cheating german barsteward arrange for Alonso to meet the gravel (it hasn't been unknown in the past) or will Alonso beat the cheat and reign as Championship in the huns final season?

F1

.........a sensible drive from Schuueey tomorrow then....................

F1

Should be good, expect some Dick Darstardly antics from a born winner :sorted:

What goes around comes around.

A puncture fecked any chance, but, even though I don't like the bloke, he did put in a pretty stunning performance.

Very glad he hasn't retired as champion.

I really do dislike schumacher for all the things he has done to win himself races and world championships but you have got to hand it to the man he is one hell of a driver, going from 10th to 5th having a puncture and then going from 17th to 4th just proves that!

F1

yeah but he is a right shirt front!! glad to see he didnt win it, he announced he was going to retire right when he had the motion and it looked odds on, he was going to win the championship.... brilliant that he didnt! PISS OFF SCHUMACHER!!!!! :D

Love him or hate him he has brought more to the sport than any other driver in the last 20 years or so. After China it seemed it was destiny for him to win, but never happened, next year is going to be exciting with Kimi and Massa, being teammates, Alonso at McLaren, but I fear Renault won't retain their title, or even come close to doing so

F1

More than Senna and Prost did? Not convinced. I think he's been lucky to be around at a time when there isn't a great rival for best driver. I stopped following F1 seriously when Senna died. For me Senna was simply outstanding and would have had all the records if his life hadn't been tragically cut short.

F1

To be honest Senna had the potential to bring more to the sport although I have to admit I'm not even 18 yet, so maybe I shouldn't have said last 20 years. Don't really think there are any characters left in the sport now. Sure Alonso and Kimi are great drivers but lack character.

F1

I wouldn't say he brought more to the sport because in essence he killed it, they had to rewrite the rules for him.

A man-machine and the very best ever at driving a car very fast but his will to win brought him problems and will taint his overall legacy.

the very best ever at driving a car very fast
I guess it's this bit that annoys me so much. Prove that he was better than Fangio. Or Senna. Or Prost. Or anyone else that wasn't driving at the same time. I bet his number of errors per race was higher than Prost's. He didn't have the flair of Senna. And is his record truly as good as Fangio's, given all that has changed in the sport, especially with regard to the pre-eminence of the importance of driving for the right manufacturer? Schumacher was unquestionably the best driver of the period during which he drove.
