FA Cup 5th Round Draw

Please note this thread is in Football World and World of Sport (for now:sorted:)

The draw will take place on Monday night at about 1920 and can be seen on BBC 1

The ties will take place anytime that TV decide between the evening of Friday February 19th and the evening of Monday February 22nd


The full ball allocation is as follows:

1 Tottenham Hotspur or Wycombe Wanderers
2 Derby County or Leicester City
3 Oxford United or Newcastle United
4 Sutton United or Leeds United
5 Liverpool or Wolverhampton Wanderers
6 Southampton or Arsenal
7 Lincoln City or Brighton & Hove Albion
8 Chelsea or Brentford
9 Manchester United or Wigan Athletic
10 Millwall or Watford
11 Rochdale or Huddersfield Town
12 Burnley or Bristol City
13 Blackburn Rovers or Blackpool
14 Fulham or Hull City
15 Middlesbrough or Accrington Stanley
16 Crystal Palace or Manchester City

6 guaranteed premier league teams.
4 guaranteed championship teams.
2 guaranteed league 1 teams.
1 non league team.

Of the 12 completed ties:
Over 50% of those are made up of teams not in the premier league.
In fact, 30% are from the championship.
25% of those are from league 1 and below.

We know that 1 fixture guarantees another non premier league team in the Sutton v Leeds fixture. The other 2 remaining ties will give us either a championship or premier league team.
If Sutton continue to win this tie, then that's 13 guaranteed teams, 2 non league teams. I think I heard with Lincoln winning yesterday its the 8th non league team in something like 35 years to get this far. We've had 2 if Sutton win in the same year.
That's a majority of non premier league teams in the cup. It could easily be an all championship final if teams undervalue it.
Although they didn't play a full strength, Chelsea at least showed respect by still not fielding the dev squad and actually fielded first team, international rated players even if they are just fringe ones.

look out for Huddersfield's draw

they have nearly a 50-50 chance of getting a lower-ranked side...

and if they're in the Q-F, our game on Sat March 11th will be moved

which is a pain if you've planned to fly home for it, for example :(

Who have won cup in last 20 years? Maybe the top teams simply have better and bigger squads as those same teams are still winning it most of the time. The problem is the likes of Watford etc who are just concerned about staying in premier league

First time ever that 2 non-league have reached the 5th round in same year.

While it would be interesting for them to play each other and have a non league team in the 6th round, I cannot imagine either side would be particularly hoping to play the other.

Must be a fair likelihood of two of them getting drawn against one another.

Can't really see any of the big five falling, except possibly Man City having an off-day at Huddersfield, if Huddersfield get in their face. Unlikely, though.

My guess is
Bbc 1st pick with Sutton
BT 2nd and 3rd pick with Man U then Lincoln
BBC 4th pick with Tottenham
