Better second half. VAR has made it even more a nightmare for the ref. The players surround the ref all the time, doing it even more now. Oliver has had a good game.

I think you are probably right. Reading his body language I felt he reluctantly asked VAR and might have panicked slightly.
The culture in top level football is to try and cheat the ref constantly and this puts more pressure on instead of relieving pressure.

Mourinho and Conte are both very defensive managers. Klopp vs Guerdiola would have been a lot better.

Quite enjoyed it in the end. Really don't like Chelsea but they did a good job on United today. Mourinho is supposed to be the top man for tactics to win specific games, but he got outdone today.

Smalling much better than Jones today, but Jones goes to Russia on the basis that he can be average in more than one position.
What was Sanchez' role today? Waste of space and not a team player. Sub Mata for him, IMO, and much sooner.
Mourinho becoming a dinosaur of old fashioned cagey football. You've got the personnel. Fkn go for it, Manchester United style, and entertain the public who pay to watch you.
Chelsea should definitely have had two penalties.

Sure I don’t need to post but WTF is Phil Jones doing on a plane to Russia?
Smalling is Championship quality at best if he wasn’t at Utd but when he watches the game back must be asking himself why is he going and I’m not?
The left back of Chelsea got someone’s MOTM and all I saw him do all game was smash the ball into touch. Hazard was a class above anyone else, Kante was tidy and the Chelsea midfielder with the goatee never stopped pressing but that aside it was woeful as a showpiece.
Mourinho embarrassed himself by trying to tell the billions watching that his side were the the best team. If you forget an abysmal 40 minutes where you didn’t manage a shot against a Chelski side who were on holiday and trying to ensure their Manager gets the sack you did ok!
You had to chase the game second half but still didn’t work the keeper. Pogba at £90M pirhouetting elegantly deep in his own half to lose Rashford looks good but doesn’t do too much to affect ROI.
He is the original show pony and when you need leaders and players to grab the game by the scruff of the neck he goes missing.
Chelsea were ordinary but on the day very glad they won.

It's several years since I watched a match not involving Brentford and I was shocked at the poor quality of the football. Chelsea had two things going for them - their ability to close down and press the United players, and Hazard. Manchester United were simply awful.

Went and saw the Brackley v Bromley Trophy final and have to say that it was far more entertaining game than the cup final. Both teams went out to win and played (quite surprisingly I have to say) a pleasing pass and move style with little hoof ball in sight. A lot of chances and both keepers playing blinders. Quite encouraging for the game given what was on display was conference level of football. Over 31,000 there as well ( although probably 25,000 from Bromley).

There were c25k in the Bromley end. No doubt some day trippers as it were but it seemed a huge number of people from the Bromley area turned up for whatever reason.

There were circa 16,000 from Bromley, and I think there were a lot of tickets purchased that were no shows, as loads of space in the Bromley end.
The game reminded me of our away game at Millwall this season. One team played it out creatively from the back, and another South East London team hoofed it up front quickly, got a goal and clung onto it desperately. TBH, I couldn't believe how tactically inept Bromley were. Fortunate to be one up at half time, they started time wasting with more than half of the second half to go and had made all of their (mostly defensive) substitutions early. They looked absolutely shot at half time. Credit to Brackley – some very intelligent play and with someone who could finish well, they would have won comfortably..
We got free tickets from my son's football club down in SE London, so I was with the Bromley fans, but was very happy at the Brackley equaliser as they fully deserved it. The red and white striped shirts and the style of play got me changing my allegiance early on.
Ben Chorley got a substitute appearance for Bromley and did very little.
