My thoughts exactly. He's screwing about with the FA just to make his team that bit more....built up to fail

FA Cup replays

Well im glad the 3 English players in the FA Cup Final next year enjoy their extra weeks rest.

I know, why not just get the FA Cup played to the Fifth round.

If Man U , Arsenal or Chelsea are still left in, then these 3, and only these 3 can draw lots to see who wins.

Sod the FA I'm more concerned about Real Madrid's 2006 fixture list. Could by then have more England players in it that Chelsea and Arsenal combined.

FA Cup replays

What a ****ing joke, the FA don't exactly set a good example for the clubs to follow in PR and managment.

FA Cup replays

They were talking about this on GMTV and made a big thing about how clubs like Brentford would miss out. I'm sure they mentioned our name more than they have in the last 5 years! John Stapleton actually sticking up for his local team for once.

FA Cup replays

I don't know what else people expect them to do. I'd rather have had the final on a Wednesday than this, but apparently that's too much for people to cope for, so they've gone for this solution.

It would have cost us a replay this week but only if Southampton were in the UEFA cup. Only Middlesbrough and Newcastle would have got let-off a replay.

It's more than likely to not actually make any difference to most teams, only a handful of ties in the last few years would have needed this new rule, and it is only for one year.

The crappiest complaint so far:
A Welsh club drawn in the fifth round against a Uefa Cup team could be denied a home replay to help England's World Cup cause
Maybe Wales should get themselves to the World Cup as well, then  Part and parcel of being a Welsh team in the English league, if they don't like potentially helping the England team, they should be in the Welsh league.

FA Cup replays

agree with Jay Bee - what the hell is everyone moaning about?! some people need to get out more...

FA Cup replays

I think the Cup is and should be special and I don't like the FA screwing with something that works. Thin edge of the wedge methinks. In four years the Premiersh*te will enter a round later but a month earlier or some other malarky.

I'm getting sick of Sven.

FA Cup replays

It's a lot of b***ocks, but what do you expect from the so-called guardians of the game, who repeatedly sell the game down the river? The only thing going for it, is that it's better than playing the Final on a Wednesday, which is the b***ocksiest idea they've come up with since letting Man U go on holiday rather than defend the Cup.

FA Cup replays

From BBC Sport

Eddie Rogers, chairman of Brentford who were beaten by Southampton in a fifth round replay, told BBC Sport: "The changes favour the Premiership clubs.

"The FA Cup is one of the opportunities that lower league clubs have got to pit their wits against glamour clubs and is also a terrific form of revenue for us.

"I think they should have done everything they could to give England the best chance while still protecting the FA Cup."

FA Cup replays

Will they subsidise the lower league clubs who miss out on the cash from a replay?

FA Cup replays

At least not ignore them when they're clearly the most interesting replay and the most deserving/in need of tv money. :mad2:

When Sven was appointed, people said it was good to have a fresh start with someone who didn't have any favourites or strong feelings about the English game...maybe we *need* a manager who would rather defend his own corner and try to put the interests of his own team ahead of the tradition of the cup for the sake of 1 year. Every other country is going to have their season finished by that date, so it's more about not having a disadvantage, than having an advantage.

Didn't the Cup final used to be the second weekend in May anyway? I'm sure it's crept back to the middle of May in the last 10 years.

FA Cup replays

It used to be the first Saturday in May, Jay Bee. Then along came the Premiershite and the Chumpions League and all of a sudden we couldn't have the FA Cup Final on the first Saturday in May, second replays were scrapped, etc etc.

The FA is supposed to be the guardian of the game, but the people in place for too long have simply interpreted that as meaning, "get your snout in the trough."

FA Cup replays

small teams miss out on big money replays :nono:
why not give man.utd a bye until the semi finals
won't be long before the fa cup final is played in march!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TO MANY OLD FARTS running the F.A :nono: :nono:

FA Cup replays

At last!!!!

The FA Cup final will now be the last game of the season on 13 May.

An initial plan was to abandon fifth and sixth-round replays for clubs involved in the FA Cup and Europe to help the four-week break be enforced.

But the FA Challenge Cup committee opposed the idea and, although it could have been overruled, the FA board has found a new solution.

The Premier League was also unable to help in the matter as it stated it could not start the Premiership season a week earlier because of the clubs' contractual arrangements.

I believe that Q/F's will be played on a Wednesday evening.

FA Cup replays

come on you lot its just one year and it gives our squad the same 4 week break and prep time as all the other major nations
oh and it means that rooney & co gets 3 weeks of getting drunk and fighting in the nite klub (what am i doing here spending money on)

FA Cup replays

The FA Cup Final will undoubtedly affect no more than 2 or 3 England players, so what is really the agenda? The question answers itself me thinks. :mad2:

A better solution. Why didn't they suggest that in the first place, if it was feasible?
