FA regulations!

i have to say the FA needs to sort their priorites out and support those clubs in finacial trouble out more!

not only are there lively hoods at stake but the fans to need to be thought of as its us who keep gibe the FA millions of pounds each year

i couldnt believe that i read, Portsmouth may not get any money from the FA or TV broadcasters from the FA cup because they are in administration!!! what a crazy and unfair rule! so whats the point in them competing in the FA CUP other than for the fans! they can go on to win it and get no money whats so ever!

and how hypacritical of the FA.. i e pompey could make the final with 25000 fans of theres there, paying up to £100 to get in on which the FA profit from but give nothing back. in which they are entitled to if it was not for this pathetic rule!

It's perfectly correct and fair. Why should Portsmouth potentially win the F.A. Cup by selecting footballers they could not afford in the first place.

Any club entering administration should be booted out of cup competitions they are still in.

FA regulations!

Does the money (they would have got) go towards paying off their football creditors?

They were talking about this on 606. Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. I think the bigger scandal is in your final paragraph. Wembley has a capacity of 85-90K and the clubs get around 20-25k tickets each

Does the money (they would have got) go towards paying off their football creditors?

If it were to go anywhere shouldn't it go to whoever brought the winding up order ie HMRC?

Probably. Another way the PL stitch-up the local butcher whilst I'm Alright Jack.

FA regulations!

i cant belive anyone agreeing with it! are you mad? ok the clubs get into trouble because they are badly run but for something that is earned on the pitch surely should be paid to the club and like i said in post one, the FA wont be moaning when they profit from the pompey fans in the semi final on ticket sales and if they make the final!

i bet any of you who have be-moaned this, would not be happy if we were in trouble and got man u away in the fa cup and the fa say no you not having the 250k+ on revenue because your in administration!! ........ exactly thats what i thought!

It would be the club's fault for going into administration in the first place stoney, you cannot have your cake and eat it.

FA regulations!

BBC report suggests it will be used to pay off the football debts.

I think the taxman and other creditors may have good reason to complain about this, but Portsmouth as a club has no right to moan

but come on mate the players have done there bit and in this fincial climate help is needed and pompey have earned their place in the semi final.. just lol

be bit like wining a a cash competion and were told we cant have it because credit history is bad, well hello how can improve that if when an opportunity comes along you get a kick in the teeth. just another hirachey punishing the poor i say.

you got your view but its a typical thing of this country not helping those need it when needed. yes pompey mismanaged but now they are in the hands of the administrator and im sure every penny would help

and there is no way in this life time if this happened to us you would just say oh well its our fault!

ive said this again and again since i read this, they FA will take but not give back at any opportunity given to them, even though i believe this rule should not have been enforced in the forst place!

thanks for the donation pompey now bugger off!

I would say huge player wages are one of the main factors as to why Portsmouth will be falling down the leagues in the next few seasons.

PS I don't think they are in administration yet :sorted:

If Brentford had been mismanaged in such a fashion, I would be confident organisations such as BIAS and BU would be strong enough to raise their concerns before it would have gotten anywhere near the £70m+ debt with no ground stage...

In what way have they "done their bit"? On the pitch yes, but that is not the issue. Portsmouth have cheated their way into the F.A. Cup semi-final by buying players they cannot afford. Why should they then profit as a result?

The argument surely is that progress in the FA Cup has been earned by a team of players assembled at a cost far removed from what the Club can actually afford.
Why should Pompey profit from not adhering to these rules that apply to all whilst others suffer from cutting their cloth accordingly?

FA regulations!

If Portsmouth get granted Administration then the FA can not choose who the money goes to as ALL creiditors are treated equally once Administrationn is entered (Although that may not apply to the taxman) - The money is paid to the reciever who gets an agreement from the creditors on how administration is to be handled and then all get paid out to whatever value in the Pound the Administrator has agreed.

That does mean that Administration will work or that the creditors will actually get the pennies on the Pound the agreement stated - It can of course go wrong (Or could go right and a better payout is made)

It is however virtually 100% certain that creditors are going to knocked for a fairly large percentage of what they are owed - BUT, 30p in the Pound is better than nothing.

FA regulations!

The FA should be protecting the creditor clubs from the actions of clubs like PFC who sign players, agreeing huge transfer fees and wages, and then are unable to pay. That is what they are doing. If they bought a player from Brentford, agreeing a fee of £1M, and then went bust, what would you say?

The many small traders who supply PFC locally will be the ones that suffer most.

This is typical of "big club" supporters who want fortunes spent without thinking of where it comes from; when it all goes tits up, they are the first to complain. Just ask Leeds!

If 5,000 Pompey fans chipped in £14,000 each and the players agreed to play for free, they would not have a problem.

ok i see that, thats fine, so if all this is the case like rebus says then, kick them out of the cup.

but none of this is fair on the players or fans and thats where im looking at it from.. as a fan every single one of us would feel annoyed at this if it was us!

and yes the players have done this on the pitch nothing to do with them professionally, and they personally are not accounted for the problems there, they have been proffesional and got on with it with likes of james waving his contract problem.

I agree with some of your sentiments on this.
But, if I recall correctly, it was alleged that we were within a hairsbreadth of administration in 2005/6( before the BU takeover). And we were still in the FA Cup and on our way to another very good run. If we had gone into admin, I doubt if any of us would have been amused at being kicked out of the FA Cup as well...

Correct, neither would I - but we didn't go into administration. If we had, could anyone complain given the arguments raised on this thread?

Football club have to start operating correctly Geoff; fans cannot crave success, moan about lack of new signings and then ignore financial mismanagement.

FA regulations!

I don't agree with this, those monies are due to the club and all creditors should be treated equally.

Can everyone stop paying Portsmouth because they're in adminitration, or just the FA?

same with chester city owed tv and league money but no one paid up but when these clubs dont pay up they are punished! tell me where any of this is fair?

personally i think when a club earns tv money or cup money this should paid the week after the game is played! ie there was something about saints not having to give pompey there cup reciept money straight away, well why the hell should a club be allowed to hold on to someone elses money and gain the interest from the bank from the time its on there earning actually more than the gate reciept money!

yes thats buisness but for small clubs and those in trouble it causes more problems!

And there's the problem.....it should actually tell you more about the financial management at the selling club but nobody particularly cares because of the warped logic that football debts are paid first. This nonsense feeds on itself.....sure I would have cheerfully sold a player to Pompey for £1m knowing that BFC would be among the 'first dibs' lot if the wheels fell off but if selling clubs were just another unsecured creditor then buying clubs would be forced onto a 'cash only' footing which in this writers view would be far healthier for football. Some determined leadership from the ' football great and the good' could deal with the problem in short order.

You are seeing it through the eyes of a supporter and not a regulator. I can only repeat you cannot have your cake and eat it.

If Chester had kept up with payments that were known in advance they would not be in this mess. Don't blame the F.A. for Chester and Portsmouth's problems, blame their board of directors as that's where the buck stops.

I assume they are still allowed to keep the gate revenue though?

Thank you for that lesson in finance Rebus.
I am doffing my cap in deference to you...

FA regulations!

surely the monies should just be withheld and pay off outstanding football and Tax debts...

What's the betting the Portsmouth players have the same bonuses written into their deals that if Portsmouth win the F.A. Cup it will actually cost the club money a la 2008.

Thank you for that lesson in finance Rebus.

we are a few million in debt so don't we deserve a couple of points deducted for living beyond our means then?

I hear that Portsmouth are negotiating a new shirt sponsorship deal:
