I am sure that Paul USA does not mean the faithfull that travel many miles round trip. Especially when most of us have not got a pot to piss in. and thank the good lord for the travelling faithfull. But I agree with him, the people of Brentford do not deserve a football league in their town. Not many Brentford residents Have stood by their football club, and thats a fact.

always been the way....hardly know anyone from the last 35 years who actually lived in brentford and went.......most of our support comes from stations on the south west train line to windsor and reading........with a few from above the m4 (northern scum lol).........and of course wilts and dorset ;) lol

It's on a subscription service that happens to be free at the moment. This always puts people off.

Anyone who signs up to Bees Player will get their first two weeks completely free - this will roll on to a monthly £4.29 subscription unless cancelled.

How many casual fans will bother to go to the effort of registering? Would it not be better to make it genuinely free so that those with a casual interest can have a look in the hope that they like what they hear and turn up for the game? This is a chance to sell Brentford, not Bees Player.

A fair point no doubt. You could've just said that two posts ago instead of having us bleed your opinion out of you.

Seems like it is a pretty decent chance to sell beesplayer though. Who can't get themselves organised enough to set up a reminder in 13 days? I signed up when they lured me in a few weeks back and have been so impressed that i continued with it

You are a committed Brentford fan with a compelling reason to sign up though. Easy meat I would suggest. If you had only a passing interest, I reckon you probably wouldn't have been arsed so would have missed out on what was an impressive performance by the management team (by all accounts).

Unfortunately unable to make last night due to work commitments.
Intended to question Uwe on whether he felt, based on his two year contract, with a year option, confident he could elevate Brentford to the Championship during his tenure, on the existing playing budget which, as we all know, is pegged at last seasons level.
Second question was to be if Uwe was not confident had he appraoched the Board for more investment in the playing budget.
Third Question - What were they going to do about it.
Fourth Question - If he was not confident and had not approached the Board - why not.

Anyone one here got any idea :)

:D

Two days too late.

So much time spent on asking questions on the ****ing irrelevant and nobody got to ask the six killer questions.....the opening one with five supplementaries to follow up one after the other bang, bang, bang, for which I had prepared responses but finished up explaining why we hadn't announced the fee received for Charlie MacDonald.

1st question. Uwe is aiming for a top finish this season and is fearful of the big beasts in the division.
I think he feels promotion may be beyond us this season, but we will come close.

2nd question, Uwe said he was happy with the budget and would not be begging for more. Mr abee has confirmed in another thread that we have money to spend in Jan.
3rd and 4th question therefore irrelevant

In answer to abee's point - yes some more provoking questions maybe due, but surely they should be pointed at the BU/Benham partnership.
Devlin hasnt been in the job long enough to impact yet and it's too soon to start questioning Uwe.

I simply don't see how on earth Uwe Rosler's 'performance' last night could be rated by any supporter as 'poor'. We are in a transitional season where the style of football is being changed with a solid core of players who were brought in by former management teams and who are having to adapt to the new systems. The emphasis is on trying to gather more points than last season and narrow the gap between us and the top six clubs and as Uwe said if as he hopes we have a strong finish/second half to the season we'll see where that takes us. Im not sure if you asked any of the questions and were unhappy with the responses that you received or whether you just thought the performances were poor but didn't run the panel down yourself and were just sitting silent and rating MD and UR as 'very, very poor' and 'poor' . Given that it was emphasised both last night at the Fans Forum and previously by myself on here that the playing budget is exactly the same as that for season 2010-11 then I'm not sure what you were expecting. Some decent questions would have been on the lines does Uwe believe that given his two year contract with a one year option (confirmed by him last night so I'm not giving anything away) does he believe that during his tenure he can get us into the Championship on the present playing budget, if not have his feelings been made to the board, if so why not and if they have what is the board doing about it. There were two directors in the body of the audience (myself and Mark Chapman) and if you rated the performance of Uwe and Mark Devlin as 'poor' and 'very, very poor' respectively then may I simply comment that the ability of Bees supporters to actually dig out information and nail down what is going on ranks somewhere alongside your assessment of Mark Devlin's performance. What an opportunity was missed by yourself and others to actually understand what was going on but I am not pitching up at Fans Forums to tell you and others what questions I would be asking if I were outside the tent pissing in. For what it's worth I thought that MD was very, very good as was Uwe but then it takes all sorts.

For the record I asked a number of questions to Mr Devlin. I was particularly interested in his responses, as we seem to be struggling with matchday attendances. Whilst I'm impressed with the forthcoming advertisements on the side of buses, I remain disapointed with the fact that you can not purchase Family tickets "on the day of the match". My point being, alot of families will not know if they want to attend the match until the day itself and therefore the oppertunity to purchase at a discounted rate has gone. Also, I asked about any improvement in facilities for the new road side of the ground (given LR is on hold) and none are forthcoming and there are no plans to open up the "Bees Utd stand" to Families rates. I'm sorry, but I cant help feel disapointed with this response, as we are a family and fans run club (as we have also purchased a new ticket booth on Bramer Rd, I do not not see why it is not feasible).

In regards to my comments about Mr Roswler, they are indeed a tad harsh and I apologise for that. Whilst I appreacite the playing budget is the same as last year. I would expect the quality of new players to help move us forword alittle quicker, inaddition the regular players like Lee, Legge (granted he has been injured) that he inherited. Whilst I appreacite we are playing to a new style, good technical players can adapt to new systems and formations. However, I do think we are giving some teams (at home) too much respect and we appear to be playing just one directly upfront, which makes it hard when we go behind. I just think we should be a bit more confident in our abilities and to our players and say, yes you can do this, go out, bee yourselfs and deliver!.

It did rather come across, that we are lacking in confidence and I'm not sure why. As good as Hudersfield and Preston are, they have dropped points against Orient, which I think we beat 5 -0. Football is a funny old game and your right, it takes all sorts!.

Thanks to those who put the Fans Forum up on Bees Player. Very enjoyable viewing. Good to see the interplay between manager & players & it did seem that there is a good atmosphere in the camp.

A thought for next time; if microphones are not to be used, could the question be repeated by someone on the top table (PG)? I couldn't hear a number of the questions.

Perhaps if you had listened to the answers to the question you asked instead of being busy preparing your next question you might have heard Mark Devlin reply that Family tickets are indeed now on sale on the day of the match. As for opening up the BU Stand to families, I presume you realise that a family ticket at £30 is a very substantial discount on the normal pay on the door price and as such the club will want to keep the numbers of these limited and as such keep them to the side of the ground which is currently designated as the family area. Really can't see any argument against this other than you presumably wanting to gain access to the main stand on the cheap. I now also realise that you were the person who criticised Uwe for suggesting a top 10 finish was an appropriate goal for this season and you also incorrectly suggested that we had finished higher than 10th last year which was not the case.

I agree with abee that your rating of Rosler's performance as poor is frankly ludicrous and also quite insulting.

All I would say is why don't you cut people a bit of slack.

It was a little difficult to actually hear what was being said, partly because I was sitting near the back (and also people kept talking behind me when the panel were talking) and also because no microphones were being used by the panel. However, the T&C on the clubs website clearly state that Family tickets must be purchased inadvance, so either Mr Devlin is incorect or the clubs website is in need of updating.

There is no hiden agenda, except for the fact that we are operating in a "price sensitive" market and I would like to see more people suppport this club, particulary younger people who are future "life long" supporters (i.e catch them early) etc. You are correct, we finished 9th and 11th in the last two seasons, with 62 & 61 pts, so a top ten finish is broadly where we finished in the last two seasons!. I still don't see no real reason why we cant aim for the last playoff place, I don't think that would be an over achievement on the clubs part. We have done it before and I think we can ~(and will) do it again with a little more confidence and with the players we got coming back from injury/illness etc.

I repeat, if you had listened to the answers to your questions you would have heard MD quite categorically state that family tickets are now on sale on the day. Maybe the website hasn't been updated yet but I can assure you he said it and he said it in specific response to YOUR question ! I don't think I was much nearer the stage than you were and I heard perfectly clearly.

As for the top 10 finish, again Rosler clearly reiterated that he was looking for a strong finish to the season with a late push for the play offs so I think it a bit irrelevant what targets he has formally or informally set. It is his first season with a new squad playing a different style of football so I think it would have been a bit foolish of him to set himself up for a fall by stating that anything below 6th would be failure !

Family Stand Tickets

Mark Devlin actually replied saying that BIAS had already raised this issue and that now that the ticket office is in place you can purchase Family Stand tickets on the day of the match from the Braemar Road Ticket Booth.

BIAS would still advise supporters that it is best to purchase these tickets in advance to save them from queuing at the Braemar road ticket office to buy tickets then having to walk around to the Bill Axbey stand on a match day. If supporters purchase in advance the ticket office can send the tickets out to the fans so that supporters can go straight to the Bill Axbey stand on the day of the game.

Whilst crowds are disappointing at the moment the family area does has a set capacity and if the area is sold out in advance then obviously no tickets will be available on the day of a game, so buying in advance could avoid any future disappointment.

When supporters buy in advance the football club can keep a record on the ticketing system and when the Football Club offer family specials in the future, information can be sent on the special offers.

Also, I asked about any improvement in facilities for the new road side of the ground (given LR is on hold) and none are forthcoming

Mark Devlin actually announced that after a lot of a campaigning by BIAS, that a canopy will soon be installed over the refreshment area of the Bill Axbey stand.

You rated Mark Devlin's performance at the Fans Forum as 'very very poor' and Uwe's as 'poor'. I did not agree with you. I thought they were both very good and I stand by that. It was a Fans Forum and I was judging them on their responses to questions which I thought informative and honest. I do not remember your particular question nor Uwe's response but he would have answered honestly. The lack of microphones was a mistake......on I think three occasions questions were referred to me from the panel (I was sitting in the body of the room ) and I had to say 'I'm sorry but I didn't hear the question' and in my view at the very least all questions should have been repeated from the Chair/panel so we understood what was being said and why.
In football these days there seems to be a labouring both by managers and television experts that 'the first goal is important'. I imagine that it is because if a team gets its nose in front then they put eleven behind the ball throughout the leagues from Premiership down but that philosophy is anathema to me as I suggest that it produces a mindset in the players of the team that has gone behind. I much prefer the.......'they score one, we score two' approach. I believe that football is too tactical these days and it's made overcomplicated by 'experts' who have played at the top of the game and therefore know everything with the benefit of slow motion replays but have never actually managed a team. I am not one for overanalysing opponents and I imagine were I a manager my team would get beaten 7-4 every week. I was not at GP last night for personal reasons so have only seen the reports which don't make very happy reading.
The answer to your question then is yes I thought Uwe was very good at the Fans Forum and that we lost last night cannot have any bearing on that.

An interesting philosophy. Do you think it is shared by Uwe?

I certainly hope not because then we'd be losing every week as I have explained. I'm a child of the forties and fifties when football was frankly far more honest.......there were no yellow or red cards, men were men and the aim of players was not to roll around as if they'd been hit by a club trying to gain an advantage by having an opponent sent off. I honestly cannot recall seeing anyone sent off for the first twenty or so years that I watched Brentford......there must have been but I don't remember.

Fair enough - my Dad would be entirely sympathetic. I'm a child of the eighties, so I think all footballers should have perms/mullets and play with their socks rolled down!

Your points about boldness and over-analysis resonated with me because it feels a bit like we're overly cautious and analytical at the moment. I may be wrong, but my understanding of Uwe's brief (whcih may be wrong) was to produce attractive football - maybe not fifties-style-upside-down-pyramid-formation goalfests, but at least a few goals and a bit of excitement. I can live with the fact that we're not there yet (it is still early days), but what is a bit disenchanting is that we don't seem to be setting the team up to deliver on that brief in terms of either personnel or formation.
