You can look at crap in a public toilet for free so how can you expect people to pay 20 quid to do it at GP.
No we need to get out of this division(coz this is league pony) and get a team that can challenge for a place in the championship, then we will get some new fans and get some of the old ones back!

I think there is a thin line between loyalty and stupidty in all honesty. I for one felt like I was being treated like a mug last night by a bunch of players who didn't give a sh*t for the shirt. The attitude of Poole, Milsom, Brown in partiuclar was a disgrace so I walked out when the fourth goal went in. They didn't deserve my support last night because they put NO effort in. If they had been beaten by a decent side 4-1 I would have said fair enough and stayed to the end.

its hard when we produce crap like that i cant bring my mates to watch that ,yet when the good run was on couple of my mates came and loved it

These loyal fans are people like me who support the club through thick and thin. Ok tonight was the worse game i have ever seen us play. What i don't like is people who say i am not going on saturday or these muppetts who leave at half time.

Do we really want/need supporters like this? This is why atmosphere at away games is so much better as the supporters there are there because they want to be.

I will probably be moaned at because of this but it just my opinion

you can pi$$ right off with your comments.

i left at 3-0 last night. have you a problem with that?

I've been going since 1973, last season was the worst i have witnessed, close was 1975, but last night was so inept with the young players it was embarrassing. I've seen kids who can play better, and know when to jump for a ball and how to clear with either foot.

Find something else to moan about.

i agree....a couple of mates from work have said they will come to a match at some point...but i am only going to bring them along when we are doing well...i dont want them to have to put up with rubbish performances like last night.....they wont enjoy it and wont come back again.

spot on been doing it for years but 18 pound to watch that its hard great when the good run was on but glad no mates watched that last nite

take S x A divided by D +1 and then multiply this by the product of B x Y x E +1

then divide the whole sum by the BFC expected deficit, each year for the past 6 years (£500,000)

Where
B = Number of Turgid Northern away days experienced in the past decade

Y = Purchases from the club shop

E = Level of hatred towards Fulham / QPR on a scale of 1-10, where 10 = hanging the scum on lamposts is acceptable and 1 = wouldnt move house if one lived next door, but would take my bin inside my door

A = Pints sunk in the PR, when it was owned by BFC

S = Number of Games Attended this season at GP

D = Hampton Games seen, when BFC were playing at the same time

For me, it works out at 84% loyal, so I am in...

Anything less that 50% loyal, you're in the away end scummers :nono:

 Not at the moment.
I said months ago before Messrs Bird and Heath got stuck in and started making sense of things that this was a club trading almost purely on reputation only. It needed a big rebuild with stability in the back room and at the top of the organisation before we could even consider making bold decisions with players. I think we're getting that now as there's next to no chance Andy Scott will be asked to leave at the end of the season, we have a nucleus of young and talented players to build next season's squad around and the new dawn of a financially viable football club is looking more like a reality.
But at this particular moment in time, like it or not, League Two is realistically our level.

Brentford have sunk so low that we need every fan we can get. It's over 50 years since the Bees were a real force in football and signs of resurgence have become weaker and longer in coming with each passing decade.

I don't think loyalty is the issue, I've always thought Bees fans have been remarkably tolerant of the club's lack of success and ambition.

It's amazing that there is still a hard core of 3,000+ and quite a few thousand more that have a soft spot for Brentford and will come to watch if the team is doing well.

Pretty pathetic post. Are you suggesting we only let people in who are going to go every week and stay for the entire 90 minutes no matter what the score is? I have done my tour of duty over the years and have nothing to prove to anyone. I won't be going saturday as I can't be bothered after last nights showing and I also have a life outside brentford, and have plenty of other things to do on a saturday afternoon with the £50 it costs me overall to watch the bees in 'action'. Fairplay to anyone that does go on saturday but don't give me this I'm more loyal than you b***ocks.

The fact of the matter is,as been posted by LES BEEAVINU is if we dont get a side that can keep up performances week in week out then the crowds will natually drop. It's great that we have new plans for a new stadium ..etc,but fans wont want to see the cr$p that was put out at tonights game...next saturday...or next tuesday on the cost of parting with £20 agame. There are posts tonight of seeing the worst 45 mins of football thev'e seen for donkey's year's!..i have to agree, giving i've been going since 1977.Over thirty years i'm struggling to think of a worse 45 mins.So thats the reason some of us left at half time like so called MUPPETTS,is because we didn't feel like getting all wound up over another 45mins!...and from what i've heard it wasn't much f£cking better! So unless we get the consistancy on the field first! some fans might stay the full 90 mins!

loyalty or not fans were entitled to p$ss off after that dire display!

A very bad performce! Thats why i left at HT. So i suppose that makes me a muppet  !

Some Brentford fans have'nt got a clue. If i think the game is sh*te i'll leave thats my right i paid my £20. Don't worry i'll be back again but not in the next few weeks.

But i just don't get the mentality of own our 'supporters' abusing our own players .What do they expect to achieve? I understand frustration but there aren't many players who will think 'i'll f**kin show you' when it comes from one of your own. Just look at the body language of Thorpe towards the end of his time here and he's someone who's been around the block a few times. If it does that to him then what will it do to the younger ones.

If the 'shouter' gets a sense of satisfaction from their prey leaving the pitch or even, in extremis, the club then 'job done' but that will not necessarily be to the benefit of the club. Shame a few are a bit too blinkered to see that. This is when you have to trust the man in charge to do the right thing to take the team forward and if he doesn't then in this day and age he knows what is likely to happen.

I get frustrated too but, i'm sorry, telling one of our own to (metaphorically?) f**k off achieves nothing positive. Leave it to those with the power to mean it to say it.

:imwith:

It's got nowt to do with being 'loyal' or not - whatever that means - it's just common sense . . .

Metaphorically kicking someone when they're down will never achieve anything positive.

Please, everyone, can we get a sense of reality?

We are where we are for many reasons. It doesn't matter what has happened in the past, we have to look forward. Therefore, we are a reasonably well-supported team in the bottom tier of the English Football League.
Whether you like it or not, we are not obligated to watch our football team, even if we are doing well. We have families, some of us live 170 miles away, some of us have nagging other halves, some of us just cannot afford to spend the kind of money that is required to follow a football team. This does not, however, make anyone less or more loyal. I have tremendous respect for the fans who do make the long journeys away from home, those who do support the team no matter the circumstance, but that is THEIR choice. Sure, they ought to be given some consideration (such as priority tickets when needed), but imo, it is not acceptable to aspire to be a "better" fan than anyone else. We must rediscover a sense of togetherness, but must accept that as fans, we are entitled to leave a game at 3-0, or whenever.
This arguing is, frankly, pathetic and I suspect is a pure reaction to last night's defeat. We all care enough about Brentford to try and find solutions, such as better crowds and louder support, an assistant manager, etc, etc, etc and that is applaudable, but we must not get carried away by trying to blame other fans because it is nothing other than divisive, and can easily put other fans off.
Can you imagine if you lived away for a year, came back to the club, but was told that you had to sit in a certain section of the ground because you hadn't attended enough, or charged more because you weren't "loyal"?
Ok, this example does not directly relate to the original post, but the concept is still the same. Start pointing fingers now and it's easy to put people off for a very long time.

So, stop pointing fingers, understand that we are ALL different, but when it does come to matchday, get behind the team!

When it comes down to it, we must remain united, not divided, or this club really does have no future.

Fans

When it comes down to it, we must remain united, not divided, or this club really does have no future.

Quite right too - it's just very difficult to achieve with any sport fanbase because it becomes so opinionated particularly when things are going wrong and that's when the bickering starts either at the players or each other.

I went to see Leicester City a couple of times earlier this season and they're worse than us - or at least they've got 6 times as many 'managers' in the stand.

What is more worrying for this club is the number of regulars who have had their fill of it for now (as above) and have got to the point where they can see better ways of filling their matchday because there has to be a concern as to whether they'll decide to come back at any point in the future if they do enjoy their 'new' pastimes more

Being pedantic, wasn't the goal-line clearance of Elder's corner immediately before our goal, leading to the corner from which Sodje conceded the pen? So if we'd got the goal then, we probably wouldn't have got the pen.

I'm depressed by the formula above making me a non-fan. I drink in the Globe not the PR so zero pints in the PR makes the whole fan score zero

Fear not - Lionel Road is coming !

OK but people aren't going to see a new stadium, it's what's happening on the pitch that makes people want to go.
All this "loyal" boll***s makes me laugh, if the " club" put a team out that can compete and entertain people will pay £20, if you serve up crap they won't, it's as simple as that.

I've been supporting them for 25 years and always waiting for something good to happen, the problem is, and has always been and will probably NEVER change, is that when we're on the verge of something special somebody pisses on the bonfire.

I know I'll get barracked for this but, we were within touching distance of Championship football and we sell the best, most exciting player we've seen for years, DJ Campbell for peanuts, and flush all that opportunity down the toilet, and people wonder why so many " loyal" fans have had enough.

Get real and calm down, It was a lousy performance but not the worst, in watching the bees through thin and thinner for the past 50+ years I can assure you there have been worse performances its just that in the midst of time they are easily forgotten.

Brentford have no divine right to expect people to come into the ground and pay good money, if it was a pay to be entertained basis then the club would have folded many years ago. Its nothing to do with entertainment it is more a certain something that eneters the soul that makes you keep coming back because you know that one day it will get better.

I can remember many years ago saying "thats it I wont be going again" and was determined that would be the case, however started to waiiver on the Friday and come the Saturday was back in harness questioning my own sanity.

I have once tried to change allegiance and went to Watford V Grimsby, stood in the Rookery end ( showing my age) and within 20 mins was cheering for Grimsby not the wisest course of action, however having explained I was a P***** off Brentford supporter they just gave me sympathy!!

I dread to think how many miles I have travelled and how many miserable journeys home I have had to suffer from far flung football outposts, but its part of life and yes I will moan, complain, wonder why I am wasting money but still come back for more.

Deffinition ??? Mug!!

But there are many fans who have to balance expenditure against going to the games and quite frankly I can understand the difficulties they face, they are no worse fans than those who go week in week out. Equally those who left at half time, fine I have no problem with that either its all down to choices.

The guy who goes to just the odd game is no less a supporter than the one who goes to all the games, it is merley a different perspective and different choice of spending.

At the moment we are in the division we deserve to be and at one time it looked like we would not be even in that one. I expect us to play at least in the division above but am realistic enough to know we are not a sleeping giant more a nodding off midget. With careful stewardship and decent manager we can move forward and if we are succesful those who chose not to come at present may be enticed back in the future.
