Lots of early 'boro pressure when they must have won 6 corners, but Beadle put us ahead after about 12 minutes, then he was fouled for Peters to grab the ball and crash home the second from the spot.
Third from Peters, Evans should have had a hat-trick, Kev O'C glaringly allowed the 'keeper to save and a Peters effort disallowed showed that we should have won more easily.
Many second half subs, but once McPhee replaced Beadle we lost our target man and were less threatening. McP and Peters each need to play off a target man as they are too short to be too troublesome in the air.
Beadle looked okay, score and won the penalty and put thro' a couple of good balls. However, looked lacking in match practice and was possibly injured in second half.
Jay Smith looked to be out of it and Stephen Hunt was almost invisible when he came on in the second half.

I also thought he did OK. Obviously not fit however held the ball up well, brought players into the game scored, made the penalty, what more do we want

A very hot afternoon, so thank heavens for the shade provided by the "stand" at a very poor ground, even by Conference standards. Farnborough were up for the game and chased and harried the Bees, putting us under a lot of pressure and winning a succession of corners - until we went up the other end and scored. The ball was played into the area and seemed to get stuck between the torsos of Lee Fieldwick (playing left mid) and Carl Hutchings. When it eventually dropped, Fieldwick (who had a good game, I thought) tapped it to Beadle who couldn't really miss from six yards.
Soon afterwards, Beadle was played through and ran into the area with the ball, ahead of the Farnborough defender. As he shaped to shoot, the defender nudged him; the ref looked over to the linesman and to the disgust of the home fans, gave a penalty. There was a dispute over who should take it, between Peters, O'Connor and Roget - but Peters won out and placed it calmly high to the keeper's left.
Loads of chances to add to the score, the most notable being when Steve Evans was played through the Farnborough defence by Beadle, but fell over at the point of shooting.
Second half was the usual continuous stream of substitutions. Lots more chances - Peters was played through after clever work by Tabb and Beadle, lobbed the keeper, only to see his shot come back off the post. Beadle did Ok, though who was obviously lacking match fitness. He is exactly the kind of forward the bees need. He held the ball up well and brought others in to play. The penalty decision looked a little dodgy. Beadle was just about to shoot but the defender to me looked to have just taken it off his toe. I also thought Fieldwick had a reasonable game.
It was good to see Hutchings playing again and he looked quite composed and at home in centre midfield for Farnboro. Jay Lovett also played a part in the Boro goal.

Good performance from the Bees I thought. We looked to pass the ball around and played some decent stuff at times, if Evans had managed a shot instead of falling over the three times he was clean through it could have been a lot more convincing.
Beadle looked good if a little lacking in fitness, just the sort of player we need, held the ball up well and was full of neat touches, flicks and through balls, God knows what game Bigbee was at!!!
Evans made some tremendous forward runs from midfield, if only he had the composure to finish!! O'Connor had a good game and Peters was looking very sharp, his finishing is awesome, just needs to work on his overall gameplay and he'll be a star.
Fieldwick did well when he switched to left back but looked a little lost on the left wing, strange move by Wally, but when Hunty eventually came on he didn't impress much there either.
We rather lost the plot in the second half after Beadle went off as the ball kept coming back from up front and we looked more like the team of last year.
Finally, we still need a defensive midfielder to play alongside either Evans or Tabb, Smith tried hard but was a yard behind the play for most of the game and some of his passing was appalling, though admittedly not as bad as Dobbo's!!
Very encouraging to see all the youngsters fit in so easily in the second half, none of them looked out of place...

God has just told me
I was at the game which had a pub before it and an extended half time sesh in the supporters bar.I was a little ott last night,but he was just so s l o w.A couple of times he could of been put through on goal but the ball wasnt played because he wouldnt of got there.Probably a bit lacking in match fitness as quoted.The Reading boy appears to have the same skill set but with pace, sounds promissing.I would try Beadle again if DH doesnt work out

A much improved performance albeit against quite poor opposition. 8-1 wouldn't have flattered us to be honest. What with having a goal disallowed, Kev not squaring to Peters who would have had a simple tap in. The trio of stumbles from Evans, and a whole host of other chances.
I was just saying Beadle didn't look much cop when he nodded down at the back post and put the ball on a plate for Fieldwick, who miskicked - the ball squirmed in between him and the Farnborough defender and popped back at Beadles feet, who then neatly tucked it away. From then on his touch looked more assured, he's obviously big and strong, and loooks like he knows where the back of the net is. It's amazing what the addition of one player can do to the shape of a team - and this with said player only appearing to be half fit.
The thing that pleased me most was the amount of football we were playing. No long ball stuff - all on the deck - cutting through the heart of the farnborough defence.
I thought Evans, Peters, Evans, Fieldwick and Somner (at Left Back no less ) all had good games. Sonko & Roget didn't have a lot to do. The only player who stood out as being anything other than good, was Jay Smith who was abysmal. Sluggish (as ever) and I'm not sure whether he made one decent pass all afternoon.
The netural who came along with us, picked out Fieldwick as the bees player who caught his eye - and this was at left midfield in the first half. I presonally thought that Peters looked a different class.

This just makes my blood boil, it is clear that wally is going to play sumner as his first choice left back this season ahead of all the faster nturally left footed players. he has played him in every pre season so far. it might be ok versus staines and farnboro but against 2nd division sides it is going to cost us games points and hold us in the relegation dog fight if it is just not sorted out!
He needs to have his thought process questioned on this ludicrous situation

Instead of celebrating the discovery of a new keith millen we are seeing him being turned into a target for the boo boys because the lad is hopeless at left back. He is too slow and he is always trying to kick the ball down the left with his right foot and shanking it into the crowd. It is a rediculous situation when we have two good left backs at the club!
