Is he finished as a top class centre forward? ever since Euro 2008 his career has been on a downward spiral with lots of injuries and a distinct loss of form.

I have seen him play a few times for Chelsea and he just seems like he has lost it and yesterday for Spain it seemed like a yard of pace has also gone when near the goal....on the wing seems to be a different story.

What has happened to him?

Sometimes I feel sorry for him.. then realise he cost £50mill and is on a ridicolous wage and I laugh!

Confidence, simple as. Normally a player will get over a dip in confidence after a few months, but he's been in his for about 2 years now. How much would a dip in form that long shatter the long term mindset? A goal or two here or there helps other players, but it just doesn't seem enough for him... his goal run would need to be longer.

Yesterday his movements were good, he had two chances because he made good runs. His finishing wasn't quite there, but hopefully if he keeps that up he'll end up getting more goals soon. I genuinely do hope that he regains his form though....maybe not against England though ;)

At the World cup he looked chuffing miserable the whole time which to be fair was mainly spent on the bench. And that was before his Chelsea move.

Not his fault Chelsea paid £50m for him. Same with Carroll. All of a sudden Torres has gone from being labelled a world class player to a flop who can't score. So yeah do feel sorry for him. Carroll has gone from a great young prospect to an overpriced flop, but like I said Carroll didn't have anything to do with Liverpool paying £35m for him. Because of this everyone expects them to be the best. Torres is a class player, similar to Donaldson for us. Both were getting chances every week and missing some sitters but at least they were getting in the right places. Their all round play was brilliant and both were creating goals for others.

Well. as El Nino only does something every 5 years, he should have a good 2015.

I thought he did alright in the sense that he came on and had an impact and drove Spain forward. Too often subs come on a dont make the change worthwhile, alright he made some mistakes but he was busy and gave Spain a spearhead (of sorts).

Agree, it may be the game was opening up anyway but i thought after he came on he created more chances than anybody else had all game.

It's a pity that Torres is such a big name that he can't be loaned out to a lower level so he can smash a few in, which would do him the world of good.

Torres scored two good goals last night and fair play to the lad.Only in the team because of David Villas busted leg so grab your chances son.If he keeps up the form could easily be top scorer.He has the ability that there is no doubt.

He really is a sorry sight, went down because he knew he'd never get a shot away and has become a totally average footballer.

Chelsea need to realise they won't win anything with him upfront and should cut their losses and offer him to Athletico Madrid and £20m in exchange for radamel falcao

Took his goal well but apart from that he looked no more than a modest league striker , and one that doesn't run about much either. It almost a shame to see a player who looked so good at Liverpool look so average and uninterested. I guess he has made his millions so where is the motivation???

Fifteen goals in thirty seven this year suggest he's someway from finished at the top.....not the player he was in his pomp at Alhletico Madrid & Liverpool certainly but not finished............

Does anyone remember in the first half when he beat a man and went to play the ball through for someone and overhit it by about 10 yards. Truly terrible.

Looked to me as if Cole didn't approve of a £50million striker giving it the big one after scoring against a League One side.

I believe it was the first time he's scored a goal for Chelsea that was the difference between them losing and drawing outright (Barca doesn't count as they were going through anyway).

You have to wonder. I thought that the only players that were interested and that could cope with the combined conditions of the pitch, the wind, the sun and the crowd were Cole, Lampard and Terry. That was until Mata and Ba came on. I'm not surprised that Torres had to be pulled up on his actions after the goal (rather like Donaldson being pleased as punch to score against Drayton Manor High School Under 14s) but, as others have said, the embarrassment of being pulled-up on behaviour by Ashley Cole will dog him forever. Still I suppose he still has a chance with Shoorall.

Romans wet dream. Hands tied and forced to select him. Avb hamstrung and lumbered with the Spanish poseaur. Sucked continuously week in week out eventually caused the departure of Drogba. R Di Matteao found the courage to stand up to the bearded Russian despot and drop the jerk... Ciao robbie .... In 54 games. Donaldson has similar stats, 21 in 50. I know who I would rather have in my team, especially seen as he plays in a harder league.
