Apparently new signing Harry Forrester is a bit of a flash ba****d. We like that. Will be interesting to see if he can walk the walk.

However, can we remember others FBs who did or didn't.

eg
Sir Stanley Bowles - walked it? he ran it. (well 'jogged' it):sorted:

Barry Silkman - bad perm man nah! :(

Flashy Bees

Silkman was OK for the short time he played for us, but seemed to fall out with the management and disappeared after about 3 months IIRC

tony folan.. could have been so good

could have been something truly special and made brentford (well, noades) a lot of money :nono: scored some amazing goals for us before he went off the wire. wasnt it something to do with his missus getting 'dealt with' by one of the other players?

thats a new one for me ! would you really go that off the rails for a bird if thats the case? i thought he was just a major piss head, remember when he "broke his foot",when he returned he was fat,out of shape in a bad way.the most wasted talent ive seen in my time at Bees,ne was class.Never forget that goal at peterborough, causing great celebrations

Andy McCulloch and his white football boots - it seemed so strange and flash back then

Gordon Sweetzer - or am I being too literal

I don't think Sweetzer could ever be called flash. He was more a 'Street Fighting Man' .... but I've just seen what you did there. :sneakoff:

Clive Walker.

Oh, sorry, flashY?

Flashy Bees

Alan Cockram - a tragic casualty of the flash 80s, didnt he also drive a white volkswagon 944 - the ultimate flash gits motor!

So he wasnt Flash Gordon - no he wasnt was he, more an extra from a zz top vid - he fought grizzlys with his bear hands!

Bowles wasn't flashy he was just class, even when he played out his career with us.

I think Sammy S can be a bit flashy when he wants to and so can Spillaine with his twirl...

Flashy Bees

John Buttigieg was flash ON the pitch. and Grant Chalmers. but i guess they don't count like Cockram and Bowles. Andy Feeley was a bit flash with his garish clobber and ridiclous shirts i recall from my autograph hunting childhood. good thread.

:kingkev:

Salmon was surrounded by bowl heads, long flowing sh*te and shocking centre partings, I reckon he would have stood out as a flash git.

Alan (Ollie) Mansley - now he should have gone on to have been an England international - I wonder what ever happened to him ?

I think we're talking about appearance/style off the pitch rather than on it.

Folan was genius at times. Could have gone onto greatness

Did Detzi have any swagger?

Flashy Bees

Was he quite short but ran like the wind?

Yes he was fairly small guy and I've never seen anyone faster down the wing. he was a great crosser of the ball and scored a few goals as well. I believe we signed him from Skelmersdale, when he was relatively unknown.

I knew Ollie very well and flash he wasn't - unfortunately he died at quite a young age - a truly great guy sadly missed.

Mark Peters, thought he was the absolute dogs wotsits. Came to us from Southampton. The world was at his feet. Great opportunity for the lad, but he just didn't apply himself. He had a serious attitude problem .. Thought everyone on this planet was there to serve him lol .... Shame really.
Hopefully Forrester is not of that mould

Re post earlier in this thread -

By strange coincidence Andy McCulloch called me this morning to say he would be at the Book Signing at GP today. I then mentioned to him the post referring to Andy McCulloch and White Boots - This was met with a moan and a "I only wore them once" response. I think Andy has some small part of his brain regretting he wore them at that time - Far to forward thinking :)

Flashy Bees

The "White Boots" player was always Roger Cross. What a player and my hero when I first came to GP.

I don't think we've had any real 'flashy players'.
