Floodlights

It seems that the lights have been adjusted very low. Tonight being the first under lights this season and sitting in the Brook Road upper I found it very difficult to see what was going on at the other end becuase of the glare. Really could have done with a sun visor. Anyone else notice?

That's normal, our lights are not that good...........:sad:

The lights were on, but there was no one home.

If we used the pitch for snooker, would we stand more chance of getting the ball in the back of the net?

It has to be said, the lights at GP are absolutely fecking awful.

I was also in Brook Road upper last night and the left hand pylon at the Ealing Road end only had 9 of the 12 lights working, thats 25% out.Sat in the paddock for the under 17 international 2 weeks ago and there were also lights missing at the Brook Road end.I will email the club,hopefully a few more of you will too and perhaps the lighting will be improved.

I agree,sitting in the Brook Road Upper the lights blinded you. Next time I'll wear my baseball hat.Can't they adjust the lights? :(

I believe that after S Farrah joined that floodlight work was top of the list for the electrician. So much so that the Stripes Gigs team couldn't get any work done as the floodlight work was deemed so important. Not sure where the work is up to and how much (if any) still remains due to cost constraints. It may be that we have done the minimum possible to pass regulations.

Roy King wrote an article on the lux on each part of the pitch a couple of seasons ago - it does seem darker since then. Maybe we've limited the voltage/current to reduce the possibility of problems.

It is darker. Farnham Bee and the club photographer will back me up on this. It is definately darker than last season which makes for a big problem taking pictures.

Griffin Park is well known amongst snappers as having very poor light.

Not just p!ss poor but variable too - there are some parts of the pitch that are 2 stops slower than others - to the uninitiated that means four times less light in some places than others, nightmare :banghead:

This might explain the glare in the stands that I was talking about further up this thread. It was a bit like a car headlights on full beam. Obviously the lights have been poorly adjusted and shine on the crowd and not on the pitch. Are they trying to indentify trouble makers in the dark:rolleyes:
Maybe this is one for the Q & A sessions on the OS or are they not having those anymore as they haven't appeared for a while.

Emailed the club yesterday and got a reply from Stuart Farrar.He told
me that "an electrician was dealing with it as we speak"

I agree with TW1Bee. There was more light in BR Upper than on some parts of the pitch.

And before anyone says it, I know that nobody was home. :sorted:

Ask him when he started as he must have been working on the issue for a year :confused:

The central defenders of both sides seemed to lose the ball in the lights on many occasion.

A couple of people near us in the New Road also thought it was darker than usual, & one of them is colour blind & it made a big difference he said.

Btw, he dreads the visits of Brighton, Colchester etc, anybody who might still play in stripes whatever their colours.

From the directors area of the Braemar i did comment to THE GLOVE that the lighting was very poor, compared to last season.

Having spent the Swansea game standing at Brook Road with my hand trying to block the glare I'm glad to find that I'm not the only one, I was getting worried that my eyesight was really beginning to go. I thought that by cleverly standing towards the back last night I would block out the glare which I did. However it was really gloomy and I find our shirts difficult to pick out at times.

I know my eyesight is very bad but i really feel that the quality of the lights at GP is getting worse. Yesterday seemed particularly bad and it was difficult to distinguish some of the players hence the confusion over Griffiths and Partridge giving away the first goal as discussed on another thread.

They certainly aren't getting any better, there's 4 or 5 bulbs broken on the Brook Road / New Road pylon - been like that for at least 2 seasons now - Ryman League standard at best :(

Have yet to come across lights as bad in our division - Doncaster's were pretty bad last season but assume they've got better now :cry:

When the wind gusts you can see the bright patches moving, particularly in the Brook Road end goalmouth :(

Ryman league !! The lights on the five-a-side pitches at Redlees Park are better !

I'm surprised we pass the lux test by the football league for our division. The light is nothing short of appalling.
