A good win and a very good away performance. We soaked up their pressure when it came - and rode our luck on a couple of occasions - and took our chances well. Brill vocals from the travelling Bees.

what did he do wrong? from behind the goal he didn't flap at the cross had to reach it and did and a great second save even if it went onto the bar. Had to be made or it would have been in the net. The double saved was comfirmed and commented on on sky this morning. Nice to see so much footage of the match too, thanks sky. welcome back pratley and a great return to Brentford. we are top of the league!! yippee

I also watched the Sky report this morning..think they should have mentioned Bees a bit more..after all we did WIN..also we are TOP of the league....the main theme of the prog. seemed to bee ' what wrong with Forest '...WHO CARES....YOU REDS...

ITV's Championship programme also highlighted the demise of Forest, but I think it's understandable. However, I also detected a note of respect creeping in when discussing Brentford, with less of the suggestion of us being a struggling side with a clownish manager and more of a serious regard for us being realistic contenders. It's great to be taken seriously.

I've nicked this off the BBC, but apparently after the match, Megson said the following:

People keep talking about our lack of goals but we won't get the results we want while we are conceding goals at the rate that we have been doing. Defenders are there first and foremost to defend - not to start playing the ball on the edge of our box.

Well fair point, but not exactly relevant to the match he's just seen as neither of our goals were the result of their defenders "playing the ball on the edge of their box," were they?

You could argue Wes Morgan was dithering on the edge of their box for the first goal, before Tabb tackled him.

But that would be unfair on Tabb, who was on him like a flash.

I did think it was odd that a player with 9 on his shirt was playing as a defender. Still, Megson must know what he's doing as he's a big name famous manager whose teams have won promotion to the Premiership, like that other success at our level, Danny Wilson!

He played Gareth Taylor there much of last seaon too after Dawson was sold.

I'm just surprised Taylor wasn't plaing for Wales against England!!

Maybe I've missed something on another thread, but I'm surprised that there's been no mention of the blatant penalty we had turned down when Ryan Peters went through in the box between two Forest playyers and their No.18 (?) left a trailing left leg which took Peters out. I thought it was a penalty at the time and am now convinced after seeing it on TV.

No real appael at the time though, surprsingly.

Definitely Rankin and sadly he has developed a reputation for diving - a bit like Stephen Hunt did. And Hunt should have had a penalty at Southampton that would have given us a home game against Manyoo.

For what it's worth, I don't believe either of them are divers.

looked like a pen from where i was directly behind the goal and confirmed on tv. As a ref (not at that level i admit but recon i could do heaps better than a lot we've had so far this season) i would have given it. And the lines man down our end was a joke. Does he not know the whole of the ball over the whole of the line means it has gone out!!!! small man syndrome i think give him a flag and he's got power.

I thought it was a def pen from where I was, on half way line, not as close as you guys.

Seemed as if he found the gap and got brought down.

A pedant writes; they hit the bar twice (sort of) - there was a shot in the first half which was always going over but did skim the top of the crossbar.

seems not all forest fans are as arrogant as you might think - one of their fanzines, "Blooming Forest", described getting a point against Brentford as being a good result in their preview of the game.

Also, in another fanzine (or the same) was an article praising Gareth Taylor (their no.9) as a revelation in defence after switching from Centre Forward.
