Garry Phillips was always rather underestimated as he was a more than decent shot stopper and pretty consistent. He has also forged a good coaching career for himself

Blimey!
Well done!
Do any others on here recall Mel Scott keeping goal against Oxford Utd in Feb 1966? Chic Brodie went off injured, and Mel donned the green jersey with Brentford losing 1-0. Amazingly we turned things round and went on to win 5-1!

Yes I remember, I thought oh no not again because it was first few minutes when Chic dived to get the ball from the forward but he came of worse and the ball ended up in the back of the net, (Ealing Rd end), this was after Bees had lost their previous home game 0 v 5 to Bristol Rovers. (Briggs - same name as Great Train Robber) getting 3 0r 4 ? :fishing:

What about . . .

Colin Scott
John Power
Wilf Agbonavbare
Dean Williams
Jimmy Glass

Other to of appeared in goal . . .

Paul Shrubb
Gary Blissett
John Mousinho
Keith Cassells (not Brentford though)

What about Ademola Bankole

Didn't 'Rosie' Keith Cassells go in goal (Brook Road end) think we had two players sent off in a goalmouth punch up, opposition also had two sent off and I seem to have Mansfield on my mind - although that's who he joined after he wasn't offerd a new contract - remember him saying he wanted to stay and would of accepted £10 a week more.

I also think Jim McNicholl end up in goal for one game :fishing:

i'm amazed at some peoples recollections!

I can now remember this too, a 5'6" goalie!

There haven't been that many really. Would have to make a list from these posts!

That's what sticks in my mind, I was about 7 or 8 and was also the Cubs District keeper. Bearing in mind I was taller than Shrubb I couldn't see why I wasn't called upon. He was so small in that big goal but my memory says he made at least one save and they didn't score.

And wasn't it even more amazing that substitutes weren't even known then, so we won it with 10 men?
