Salford Bee
Salford Bees on Tour
Formula 1 2014
Getting in the mood for the new season now.
Driver Changes
Rookies
Daniil Kyvat (Toro Rosso)
Kevin Magnussen (McLaren)
Driver Moves
Felipe Massa (Ferrari to Williams)
Pastor Maldonado (Williams to Lotus)
Kimi Raikkonen (Lotus to Ferrari)
Daniel Ricciardo (Toro Rosso to Red Bull)
Adrian Sutil (Force India to Sauber)
Sergio Perez (McLaren to Force India) Made the scapegoat for such a poor season.
Nico Hulkenberg (Sauber to Force India)
Left F1
Mark Webber (retired)
Paul Di Resta (dropped)
Big news is Bernie Ecclestone has stepped down from the board of CVC (who run F1) but will look after day to day running while the court case is ongoing. Ron Dennis has replaced Martin Whitmarsh as McLaren CEO. Ross Brawn rumoured to come in as team principal from next year after being replaced at Mercedes by Toto Wolff and Paddy Lowe.
Calendar
IN: Austria (returning), Russia (new)
OUT: Korea (a shame as I enjoyed it out there), India
Technical changes
It's a whole new era of F1. V8s are gone and replaced by V6 turbos. More detail here
Grid penalties can carry over (e.g. If you qualify last, the penalty carries over to the next race and only the next race)
Double points will be used in the last race (I hope this is scrapped)
Drivers now have numbers so Lewis Hamilton is now 44. Helps on the marketing I assume and gives the drivers a bit more of an identity.
