Isn't it funny how matters change!

For the last few seasons we have struggled with only a couple or three forwards.

This season we had a glut:

Clayton
Farid
Will
Paul Hayes
Luke Norris
and Trotta signed early on

Suddenly we have no choice for Saturday as Farid (loan), Norris (loan), Hayes (contract cancelled) and Trotta (international call up) are all unavailable.

Farid is a game changer because his style is different to the others and he wins headers (!).
Norris is raw but has now scored in the football league
Hayes came back this season looking fit and raring to go.

Andy Scott realised the Warnock Theory of having loads of forwards by signing on loan Jordan Rhodes, Billy Clark, Sam Williams with Charlie MacDonald, Nathan Elder, the sadly injury prone Ross Montague, and Damian Spencer available.

I might be wrong here, but were not Rhodes & MacDonald both out injured for the season before Spencer & Williams were brought in?

Yes a number of the strikers listed replaced others who were injured

the point is that he concentrated on getting forwards in to the team.

Now we have just two for vSaturday so I know that when I get to Carlisle we have no choice up front and hopefully neither will get injured 'cause we have no Plan B.

The management have been trying to bring someone in but for reasons that they have already explained, it isn't easy. I see saturday as a big chance for Grigg if he's played central but Clayton might go central and Grigg wide. We shall see.

Sometimes a forced change of dynamics isn't a bad thing. Mixing it up a but might help get CD firing again.

however you look at iu, we need outside assistance and sometime soon

The present squad, with CD and MT not quite firing, without any additions, is NOT quite good enough good enough for auto promotion. Play offs, for sure, but we don't want that.

I think we'll see someone coming in before Saturday. If we cant get the right man in time then there no point of bringing in anyone sub standard to sit on the bench for one game. We can bring someone on like Dallas and shift Donaldson into the centre if there is an injury or poor performance by Grigg during the game.

Fully agree it is a big chance for Grigg, although he needs to play more central not out wide as you say. However unless Farid or Norris are on the bench we have no other 'real' options if Grigg (or Clayton for that matter) are mis firing. That is my worry.

Rhodes was signed as a replacement for Bowditch, who in turn was a replacement for Connell. Sam Williams and Damian Spencer were signed a couple of days after Elder and Rhodes' season-ending injuries respectively. Only Clarke was signed as an additional player to the squad at the time.

Hayes came back this season looking fat.

1. edited for you.

2. I thought Scott collected right sided midfielders not forwards!

Grigg is an outrageous waste played wide.

It will be interesting to see who's on the bench.

Good that Grigg got 61 minutes as a CF under his belt yesterday and scored. Dallas played all 90 so I guess will be on the bench
