Foul throws

In about the last years I've only ever seen refs give about three or four foul throws in games I've either attended or seen on TV. This season I must have seen seven or eight given (all on TV obviously) including another one by Cedric of Arsenal tonight , I think I also saw Tarique make two in a game earlier this season. Are referees clamping down on this despicable act ? ?

I’ve regularly seen foul throws go unpunished at GP. Stealing yardage at throws is also let go most of the time.

Wouldn't be upset if they changed the way we restart and allowed underarm throws. Be good to find a way of getting the ball back in play quicker at times.

Linesman watch for the feet being lifted or stepping over the touchline refs watch the actual throw. All the foul throws I've seen given were for incorrect throwing.

I always thought that both feet had to be behind the touchline.

It may have been mentioned in the Middlesbrough commentary that part of foot has to be in contact with the line.

Seems refs change what they punish. I have noticed the throw in situation but delaying a free kick by standing in front of the ball now goes unpunished. I notice this in particular during our cup match at Spurs but seen in many matches

I remember seeing this change a good few years ago now! Just a part of the foot in contact with the line, so you could technically have your heels on the line and its legal. That's my understanding anyway!

It’s rather like a foot fault in tennis. The action is simple and repetitive, and becomes automatic. It shouldn’t happen, but it does. Maybe increased scrutiny all round means a slight change in emphasis on enforcing the rules?

Same here, noticed a few dodgy arms in the last few days. I have always thought Henrik had a questionable technique but as he has never to my knowledge been penalised it must be ok. Remember the paddock slaughtered the poopers left back last year over his action, you could see it really got to him!

A player must have part of each foot on the touchline or on the ground outside the touchline.
The last change to this was in 1960.

And the opposition kicking the ball away when it goes out of play (we do it as well).

It is amazing how many professional footballers struggle with throw ins, they are not that difficult.

Watched Morton v Dunfermline (yes I know) last week and the amount of foul throws that were committed and were not picked up by the officials was quite amazing. Mainly from the same player who seemed to have one foot off the ground at almost every throw.

Can't believe I have just mentioned that...how sad...this lockdown has me doing such mundane things to pass the time....I suppose having reffed a lot after I stopped playing I tend to watch out for these things...
