Frank Howlett

Really saddened to learn yesterday of the passing of Frank Howlett. I had no idea. My daughter and I were fortunate enough to sit alongside Frank for a number of years in the Braemar and then the South Stand. An accident a couple of years ago led to him losing some mobility, so he had to move seats. We kept in touch and met him a few times post match in the Dugout.

A really top notch bloke, Frank, with a wicked sense of humour and a genuine interest in those around him. We shared Yorkshire roots so had plenty in common. We were both floored when we heard PG make the announcement at half time. Don’t know how to get in touch with the family, but would like to convey my condolences to his son, Gary, grand-daughter Lisa and the rest of the family. RIP Frank.

I’m an old school friend of Gary (and friends on FB) - happy to pass on any private comms if you want.

That’s very kind. I can’t do private messages on here but would really appreciate it if you could pass on the details of my post above, and this one, to Gary and reiterate that we really did hold Frank in the very highest esteem. My daughter was very moved yesterday. Frank always took a keen interest in her education and football career. My wife and son were also saddened by the news. They were both occasional visitors to GP and the Gtech but were both made very welcome by Frank, so much so that they were always keen to hear news of him.

Thanks LBA, my son and I along with another Bee used to sit behind you and Frank and were equally shocked.
Incredibly nice man, we are deeply saddened by this news.

Rest in peace Frank, I had the pleasure of sitting directly behind you for a good many seasons with my Children. Thank you for the memories.

Thank you all for the kind words. Brentford was a big part of his life from his first game in 1946 in the old first Division to his last and the home win v WHU. He made so many friends along the way. Xx
