I was reading about this rule change on the official Torquay site during the week. There manager wasn't to happy either.
Having said though if punters are paying good money to get in, do they deserve to see so many substitutions. Maybe fixtures should be billed first team/ XI, reserve team etc and the initial fixtures played either behind closed doors

it is a bit of an unnecessary ruling by FIFA - as managers have commented, they don't want players playing 90 minutes at this stage 
i think the second half was officially entitled an "exhibition match" - i can see that becoming a popular phrase in the next few weeks!

Fulham secretary Lee Hoos slammed the Fifa regulations, which were introduced following complaints about the large number of substitutions used in internationals. "I think the rule is absolutely ludicrous," he said. "It is imposing a significant health and safety risk on players who have been back in training for one week to have to play 90 minutes." Watford manager Ray Lewington agreed, saying: "There has to be common sense really. To ask players to play 90 minutes so early is ridiculous."
What a load of b***ocks that is!!! They are footballers, it is there job to play football. And they wonder why we think they are over paid prima donnas!!
I guess once the season starts they will be saying "we have only played friendlies, how can you expect the players to play for a full ninety minutes in a competitive game without adequate preparation, it is scandalous"

Unlimited subs is standard practice for pre-season friendlies. There's going to be a storm about this, I suspect.
