Was at Fulham training ground at Motspur Park today for a match. What a set of miserable, officious, inhospitable sh1ts, honestly. Massive, incredible, impressive site with everything imaginable for the senior players but not so much as a cup of tea for visiting parent supporters. You have to sign in and sign out and then there is nowhere indoors for you to congregate. So, at the end of the match, frozen through, and soaked to the skin, with dents in our heads from the hale, we assembled in the nice warm cabin where we signed in, and where they were showing the football on TV. Within a minute, security matey must have mobiled an assistant who turned up to tell us we weren't allowed to stay here. I politely asked him if there was another room for us. "No", he says, "You have to stand outside", gesturing to the carpark. Not "No, sorry", just "No". I thanked him for his hospitality. You are probably thinking I'm whinging too much here, but I should tell you that we have to wait up to an hour after matches for team debriefs etc., then for the girls to have a bite to eat with their hosts.

Earlier, at half time, I had asked the security man, in his Fulham jacket, how they were getting on at Anfield. "It's not at Anfield", he said, and that was the end of the conversation. Bollox to them, I hope they go down by a record margin.

Our girls won, by the way.

Went there for daughter's tennis match a few years back. Jeans and tee-shirt for me. When we got out of the car, were outnumbered by chaps in cricket jerseys and neat flannels, geared up for croquet. Weird place.

Honestly, I left my mark on a particularly nasty piece of work nicknamed Bullet who lunged into every challenge. It was a cowardly tackle by me and no complaints with the red but he was long overdue and I wasn’t too unpopular with team mates on that occasion.

Rugby at that age is very different from football, my son used to play rugby, always as after a match both teams were fed, there was always a club house to get tea, bacon rolls etc. After the game/training parents and coaches were in the clubhouse having a beer or six whilst the kids went and played. He decided he'd rather play football, so now we just turn up at a field, they play and then everyone goes home. Very occasionally there is somewhere to get a drink or something to eat.

I remember Bullet playing for someone in the West Fulham League when I was reffing. I think his own teammates were a bit afraid of him.

The Natives down by the Thames are getting a bit restless. Seems they've started a "Stop The Greed" campaign to protest at ticket prices at Craven Cottage:

And to publicise it, they crowd-funded three big banners to unveil at the Man City game, only to be told by the club that they couldn't:

While the reason for not allowing them in the ground is unclear, it is understood that the flags and banners can be seen as a health and safety risk as well as having a detrimental effect to the experience of fellow supporters.
Speaking of the decision, founder of 'Fulhamish' Sammy James said: "I'm disappointed that the club have taken this decision not to let the banners into Craven Cottage on Saturday, as I believe we tried our best to comply by the club's rules.... ... The club told me personally that one of the main reasons behind the decision is because the banners are not supportive of the team.... ... It's a shame they did not adopt such a mentality when allowing thousands of Liverpool fans into the home sections during our previous match."

Saw parts of the game today and surprised how shocking they really were. You could sense most of the players are there just for the money. No chance they will come straight back up - will take them a few years as they need a complete rebuilding job.

Obviously we have been keeping an eye on Fulham more than Huddersfield but how has there been a worse team in the prem this year than Fulham! Don't think either of them will be worth worrying about back in the championship

Huddersfield have a squad that was built on their Championship one, they'll lose a few but there's no real stand-our players, so there's every chance they will keep the core, add some Championship players using their PL money (like a player to score them some goals) and be solid contenders.

Fulham, on the other hand, have probably already spent their PL money on players who will want to get out ASAP. They've still got many of their Championship elements but it will need a total rebuild. Who will oversee that? Mid-table obscurity beckons with the threat of FFP on the horizon.

They remind me of QPR when they went down in 1995. They tried to keep hold of overpaid stars like Trevor Sinclair who had no interest in playing in the second tier and floundered as will Fulham who are total mess.

You'd think so, although Mr. Benham reckons that relegated teams are usually overrated (and promoted teams underrated).

On top of which, Hudds will likely need to replace their manager, and there's no guarantee they'll get another Wagner:

Even if Scott Parker has what it takes to be a manager, and gets the gig permanently, it would still be a hell of an ask for him to get them back up in his first season.
