Fulhamification - A Progress Report

Really not sure how and way 'tis is worth getting worked up over.. where is it on display? Would think it best to judge for myself though.

Fulhamification - A Progress Report

I have to say it is b0ll0x but also these 'trendy' colour schemes are all a bit of a fad too. Bit like grey double glazed window frames that are all over Beaconsfield mansions right now and will no doubt be ripped out in a few years when out of date and out of fashion.

Yep, as i said im sure a lot of clubs are doing it.

One of the points of the new crest was to be able to produce in different colour schemes. Why is everyone acting surprised a black and white one has turned up.

Because it's not on brand and in over 125 years has no association with our club ?

Fulhamification - A Progress Report

I agree, but my point still stands.

I'm struggling to understand any benefit to anyone, do they expect to generate more revenue by offering different versions?
My gut feeling is there will be tons of unwanted black and white labelled stock left unsold.

Because it’s at our HOME training ground.

If Brentford played in the Black kit away and the Club wanted to do something on the web about it, fair enough, use black and white. But at your own home training ground? Give me a break. How much has that cost and what benefit is there from it?

We changed our badge to show the public a fresh new unbusy badge. In our colours. Yet some dimwit decided to make it black and white on home turf. Idiot.

Fulhamification - A Progress Report

It is annoying but i doubt many people care/know about it outside of the GPG.

Only for our Away strips and not a home kit, that I know of!

:imwithstupid:

Makes no sense to me, as I said I'm sure on the wall further down or the other side is the normal badge.

A bit late but I've had other fish frying, whilst walking around Middlesboro pre-game I came across a shop where Nana and Kurty should sort things out.

That’s their problem. Our problem is that some - a few sadly - seem to care that our identity is being manipulated by a marketing genius.

A marketing genius? I think that's the least appropriate label I've ever seen.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. If MB was unhappy with it, he'd have done something about it by now. He puts his faith in these people to do a good job and if he feels they aren't doing it, he'll act. To the best of my knowledge, he thinks the marketing team are doing a bang on job. I'll believe different if the approach changes or personnel change. By the way, I think the marketing dept are on money for old rope, but that's just my opinion...

Just pointing out that its not just us and that colour scheme is used at many clubs now. I dont think our identity is being manipulated that badly, i do agree that the colour is a poor choice as its linked to our direct rivals. I think our club in terms of marketing is much better then it was 5-10 years ago.

Then again it should be i suppose with the finances given to the marketing dept.

I got a letter from the club the other day and it was black lettering on a white A4 sheet of paper....the Fulhamification continues.

Just picked up a link from NewsNow to Brentford Website.

Watch The Bees as we welcome Leeds to Griffin Park for Halloween

We are playing on Saturday NOV FOURTH.

Which idiot can possibly say that is anything to do with OCT 31st.

Funnily enough the article has been removed now.

Getting mixed up with bonfire night?

Fulhamification - A Progress Report

Around 02/03, didn’t we have a black away shirt where the badge was also black and white? Sponsored by GMB.

I don’t remember any uproar at the time.

That's correct. Completely off brand guidelines (there were none!).

The only thing that is strange is that a colour version of the logo is displayed on the pavilion so not sure why a monochrome version has sneaked in.

The badge was black and silver and thus ok :kingkev:

This should be the Football Clubs focus on November 4 2017 v Leeds United.

As it’s the last home game before Remembrance Sunday, shouldn’t the theme be about educating the children, who attend the match, all about what their forefathers and mothers did between the years 1914/1918 and 1939/1945?

Instead, they get treated with more Americanisms and this hallow’een sh*t. Which was 4 days beforehand.

Actually, Halloween was originally a British Isles tradition, often Celtic in fact, long before the colonisation of America.

The Yanks then took up on it in a big way, with some of their "customs" coming back to us across the Atlantic. (Same applies to a lot of "American English" too, btw).

But anyhow, your general point about confusing Halloween and Guy Fawkes, also Remembrance Sunday, is a good one and the guilty parties at the club should be embarrassed.

Yes, Halloween, in Britain, was a pre-Christian Celtic celebration that got merged with the (Church of Rome) All Hallows Eve, the night before All Saints' Day (All Hallows Day), when you prayed that your dead relatives passed to heaven and greased the palm of the priest to help them on their way. The commercialisation, though, with all sorts of plastic tat and sugary confections, is purely from the church of mammon, aka Walmart, to fill a gap in the shopping calendar between 'BTS' (back to school) and Thanksgiving.

I prefer the traditional English Guy Fawkes night... nothing like celebrating the burning of a Catholic ("Roman Candle") or three, St Catherine, as well, on the wheel; all innocent fun!

Absolutely correct, but there is/was an intermediate phase subsequent to the above, but pre-dating what you (correctly) describe below. A good summary here:

"Causing mischief has been a part of the Halloween tradition since the very beginning.
The most ancient roots of Halloween come from the Celts of Great Britain, who believed that the day before their Nov. 1 New Year was a time when spirits came back to haunt and play tricks. On Oct. 31, people dressed up in scary costumes, played games, lit bonfires and left food out on their doorsteps for the ghosts in celebration of this otherworldly event, which the Celts called Samhain.
When Great Britain was Christianized in the 800s, the ghoulish games of Samhain merged with All Saints Day and All Souls Day, during which the dead were honored with parades and door-to-door solicitation by peasants for treats — usually a bit of food or money.
After the Protestant Reformation, much of England stopped the "treating" side of Halloween because it was connected to Catholic saints, and transferred the trickery to the eve of Guy Fawkes Night, a Nov. 5 holiday celebrating the foiling of the 1605 Gunpowder Plot to blow up British Parliament. Mischief Night in England is still celebrated on Nov. 4.
The Irish, Scottish and northern English, meanwhile, kept up much of their Halloween traditions, including the good-natured misbehavior, and brought their ways to North America with the wave of immigration in the 1800s."

Old Guido was no lovable rogue who just happened to get caught before being horribly tortured and executed etc.

He was an absolutely fanatical religious zealot, whose modern-day equivalent would be something like Al-Qaida or ISIS.

Which is not to say that he deserved his eventual fate (a quick and simple beheading would have sufficed, imo), nor should his death be "celebrated" unthinkingly (though a few kids collecting for the Guy and letting off fireworks etc is harmless enough, I'd say).

But he and (some of) his fellow conspirators were a decidedly nasty bunch. Had they succeeded, the subsequent history of this country would have been very different - and not for the better, either.

:mad2: No doubt when Kurt's Jumbotron gets installed, that will only display in black and white! :fishing:

Great opportunity seing as the Leeds game is also a live Sky game.

The Halloween nonsense appears to be confined to the family area.

Hallow'een meant sod all to many born before the 1990's. And yes, I knew it was an old British thing. Now that has changed due to the Yanks and commercialism. Tasteless crap. Selling cheap sh*t to mums and dads and getting kids to traipse around the houses banging on doors for sweets. A load of old bull.

My kids used to love it. Might seem nonsense to some of us oldies but surely kids dressing up and having fun, staying out a bit later than usual collecting sweets with the parents in tow isn't really a bad thing.

I don't know why little children dressing up and having fun is so offensive to some.

Not offensive, just a load of old crap.

School my kids were at didn't allow any halloween stuff at all, it was a CofE school and halloween 'celebrates paganism'. There was serious discussion about whether the children were allowed to bring Harry Potter books to school for the same reason. In the latter case they realised that it couldn't be stopped but teachers were not allowed to use the books for lessons.
